This has been a stall that i patronize regularly recently. I have tried their duck kway teow and duck rice so far and i came back to try their kway chap this time.

A kway chap set for 1 person is only $3.50. I came at an off peak period but there was still a queue right in front of this stall, the customer in front of me and the after, happened to order kway chap too.

The Kway was really smooth in the slight herbal tasting stewing sauce. And, the ingredients like braised meat, tau kwa, tau pok, intestines and braised egg that served along were in a pretty good amount. This is definitely one of the nicest that i ever tried so far.

Highly recommended.

A great place for great foods.  Smile May 31, 2011

First time eaten at Din Tai Feng was in Taipie very years ago. And, i am still a regular supporter after gotten back to Singapore.

My favorite have always been the Zha Jiang Mian (炸酱面) and Xiao Long Bao (小龙包).

The Xiao Long Bao arrived first. Six dumplings nicely lined and evenly spread out in the steamer basket. All of the identical dumplings were presented in the perfect form. I used the chopsticks to pick one up lightly, trying not to break the thin yet elastic skin. The juice oozed out immediately after my first bite and filled up my spoon. The recommended way to eat Xiao Long Bao is with the vinegar soy sauce and the shredded ginger.

The noodle of Zha Jiang Mian tasted heavenly after nicely mixed with the minced meat, tofu and the sauce. The flavor is great but the portion is a bit too little.

No matter, this is a nice place for great foods. Recommended.

Some of the best cakes in Singapore found in this Japanese bakery. Some of my current favorite are the Caramel Ice Cheese Tart, Berry Berries and Cacao Royale.

CARAMEL ICE CHEESE TART: I could not help but fell madly in love with the melt in the mouth cream cheese filling in a tartlette of a crunchy almond cookie that give it both the tastes and textures. I absolutely love this, it tasted even nicer when served chilled,

BERRY BERRIES: This is the signature strawberry shortcake consists of soft sponge cake with fresh strawberries and delicious fresh cream. This is definitely my kind of cake too. Like most gals, i am a big fan of all type of berries.

CACAO ROYALE: If you are a chocolate lover then this would be your kind of cake. This is a dark chocolate sponge cake layered with chocolate ganache with fresh berries. This is one of the nicest chocolate cakes that i ever eaten.

And, i am going to order a nice birthday cake from here for my coming birthday. smile

Shark fish nuggets Lor Mee. Smile May 25, 2011

This is one of my regular hangouts for Lor Mee.

I believe this is one of the first Lor Mee stalls that started to add shark fish nuggets to their Lor Mee years ago. I usually go for the $4.00 portion with extra ingredients of ngor hiang, braised meat, braised egg and shark fish nuggets added.

They used to sell shark fish nuggets as a side dish but stopped after an increase in demand. Auntie was telling me the demand got so high to a certain extent that they could no longer meet. Now, you can only add extra shark fish nuggets to your lor mee.

My way of eating is to add extra chilli with extra garlic paste with extra red cut chillies to the flat yellow noodle. The lor (sauce) is the diluted version not as thick as compared to the other famous Lor Mee stall at Amoy Street Food Centre. No matter, it's still really nice.

Highly recommended.

Where can you still get a $2 bowl of Lor Mee in Singapore? most stalls are selling it at $2.50 or even $3.00 but right here, they are still selling it at $2.00. But if you are really hungry and want a bigger portion, you can always go for the $3.00 portion.

This is the hokkien style Lor Mee and one of the few stalls that added in the shredded fish meat just like the other famous Lor Mee at Old Kallang Airport Road Food Centre.

Other than the shredded fish meat, you will get ingredients like ngor hiang and braised meat to go along. I always go for the $3.00 portion and pay an additional $1.00 for extra ingredients to be added. The best way to eat this bowl of Lor Mee is to eat it with red cut chillies. And, do take note this particular stall does not have the chilli paste for Lor Mee. Their Lor (sauce) is so good by itself to totally leave out the chilli paste.

I always take away for my grandparents and they love eating this too. The Aunties are very nice here, even if you did not ask them to separate the sauce from the noodle, they will do it for you. This is definitely the value added service that we look forward but sadly, not many stalls have such an outstanding service in the food centres and likewise in the restaurants, too.

This is always the stall that i am looking forward to go back. Strongly recommended.
