BK Fish'N Crisp Cry Nov 10, 2013
Categories : American | Fast Food | Halal | Burgers and Sandwiches

There was an ongoing promotion at Burger King whereby selected items are selling below $2. One of them was the BK Fish'n Crisp selling at $1.95. This burger was available for whole day.

This Fish'n Crisp had whole square slice of cheese, unlike Mcdonald's only half a slice.  However, there was no sauce in this burger.

The burger tasted dry without any sauce. The fish patty was also dry and bland even though inside was real fish meat.

Overall, i still prefer to have my fush burger at Mcdonald's even if it cost more.

Shroom Burger Cry Nov 10, 2013
Categories : American | Fast Food | Halal

There was this ongoing promotion at KFC selling  two burgers at $2. One of these was the Shroom Burger.

The Shroom burger size was quite small if compared to the Zinger Burger.

There was mushroom sauce with button mushroom in between the burger.  The sauce tasted starchy and savoury.

The chicken patty meat used was different from Zinger burger. This chicken patty meat was dry and stiff liked eating broiled chicken breast meat.

The overall taste of the Shroom burger was quite dry even with the savoury mushroom sauce.

Carlbell Cry Nov 09, 2013
Categories : Bakery

There was a famous bakery opened by a Taiwan celebrity in United Square.

When I reached there, the bakery was crowded and shelves almost empty.

I manged to grab a piece called Carlbell. The price was not cheap at $6.50.

This Carlbell bread was filled with cheese and rasins.

The bread texture was chewy liked Indian naan. When you chewing the bread, it became a lump inside your mouth. It was hard to chew as the texture was tough and chewy.

The cheese filling was thick but taste light.

Overall the bread tasted plain.

Roasted duck & char siew rice Cry Nov 09, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Coffeeshop | Seafood | Zi Char

During lunch time, there was a roasted meat stall at this Bukit Batok kopitiam with long queue.

I had ordered roasted duck and char siew. There was also soup of the day which came free fir dine in.

The soup of the day was peanut chicken feet soup. The soup tasted well boiled for several hours. There was no MSG taste.

The roasted meat was slightly disappointing. The roasted duck was not meaty and full of bones. The meat was dry and skin not fatty.

The char siew meat was average. There was not much of roasted aroma. The meat tasted slightly on the dry side with no fats.

Fish Soup Cry Oct 15, 2013
Categories : Food Court | Chinese Soup

Everytime I went to Clementi Mall Foodcourt, I always saw there was a queue at this fish soup stall. There was also many newspaper article recommendation cuttings pasted at the stall.

The ordering was quite direct, just said the menu number of the item with or without milk.

When the order arrived, it was steamy hot. So hot I could not even sipped the soup. I had to wait a while for the soup to cool down before eating.

The fish soup tasted quite light even when milk was added. I did not like the idea of adding milk in fish soup, I prefer naturally white fish bone soup.

There were two types of fish given, one was sliced and other was deep fried. Both the fish tasted fresh.

Tomatoes were also added to the soup, but the tomatoes did not add any sour flavour to the light tasting soup.

Overall, this fish soup was too light tasting to my liking.

Spending per head: Approximately $5(Lunch)
