Chicken & Chips Smile Dec 25, 2013

My friend and I decided to visit Kranji farms. We took a shuttle bus and it stopover a few farms. We decided to drop off at Bollywood Veggies Poison Ivy Bistro since many other passenger in the bus also drop off there. The Bistro was very crowded before lunch time, luckily we managed to find a table at the corner.

We ordered the Chicken & Chips and Banana Curry. The prices for the Chicken & Chips was $10 and Banana Curry was $4.

The Chicken & Chips serving was quite small. The chips were normal deep fried french fries. The chicken meat was grilled prefectly on the outside. Inside the meat was tender and slightly juicy. The meat was good with taste of honey and caramel.

The Banana Curry was good. The curry gravy had Indian style curry aroma and tasted slightly spicy. The cooked banana in the curry tasted more like powdery potato than banana.

Overall, the food at Bollywood Veggies Poison Ivy Bistro was good but the prices were a bit high for such small servings.

Recommended Dish(es):  Banana Curry

Vegetarian Bee Hoon Smile Dec 25, 2013

This Sheng Xian Vegetarian stall in Jurong East has been opened since I was a child. They sell not only vegetarian bee hoon but also hokkien mee, mee goreng and carrot cake. I always like to buy their vegetarian bee hoon. Their vegetarian bee hoon prices have been unchanged at $2 since many years ago.

The plate of hot vegetarian bee hoon had a herbal aroma from their special gravy. The moist bee hoon was fried nicely with slight "wok" aroma and taste. There were many ingredients in the vegetarian bee hoon, such as beancurd skin, mock char siew, fried wanton, braised mushroom and fried cabbage. All tasted good with the bee hoon in gravy.

Overall, this vegetarian bee hoon was good in taste and price.

Ice Kacang Smile Dec 25, 2013

It was after dinner time and there was not many stalls opened at Golden Mile Hawker Centre. The weather was hot and we decided to have some cold dessert. We found a dessert stall still open, despite the lighting at basement was quite low.

I ordered the Ice Kacang. The ice kacang had fine shaved ice and with flavoured coloured syrup. Most other dessert stalls, the ice kacang syrup was only colour and sweeetness. I can taste the gula melaka syrup, the rose syrup and apple syrup from this ice kacang.

Below the flavoured shaved ice, was the normal ingredient such as red bean, glass jelly, sweet corn , agar agar and attap chee.

Overall, this was a cheap dessert for a hot weather day.

Beef Brisket Noodle Smile Dec 25, 2013

My family and I went to have Dim Sum at Jin Shan in MBS. The dim sum menu list was quite small, hence we decided to order some noodle or rice dishes.

I ordered the Beef Brisket Noodle. The noodle dishes came earlier than our dim sum orders. The beef brisket noodle had generous amount of beef and tendon, more than the noodles.

The beef meat was very well and deeply braised. I can taste the herbal in the meat. However, the beef meat though soft, was a little dry, maybe they had braised too long. The tendon was jelly like and almost melted in mouth.

The noodle was very good. It was "crispy" in cantonese term.

Overall, the Beef Brisket Noodle was good, though I still prefer the ones from Canton Paradise.

Pork Loin Yanagawa Smile Dec 25, 2013

While my family and I were at Liang Court, they wanted to eat ramen at Tampopo. But I was hungry and wanted to eat rice meal. Hence, I had ordered the Pork Loin Yanagawa.

The Pork Loin Yanagawa was actually a deep fried pork cutlet with egg on top. The pork loin batter skin was not as cripsy due to the egg with onions being put on top. The egg with onions was on the salty side as the sauce was also mixed into the egg. The pork loin used lean meat, it was tender and juicy.

Overall, the Pork Loin Yanagawa was good but Tonkichi was better as they used fatty pork meat.
