QQ Ramen Smile Dec 24, 2014

I always thought Hong Sheng was selling only fish soup until I passby their Clementi Branch. They are selling handmade Ban Mian and there are a wide variety of Bian Mian in their menu.

There was a short queue during lunch time, all of them ordering Ban Mian and self serviced. It was hot seating in this kopitiam, the ventilation was not so good.

I ordered QQ Ramen, a dry version of Ban Mian at $3.30. The serving was big.

The QQ Ramen had a nice shallot oil fragrance. The noodles was springy and tasted similar to Japanese ramen. There was generous minced meat under the noodles, vegetables and also a braised egg. Braised sauce was added to the noodles.

Overall, the QQ Ramen tasted oily and delicious. The minced meat was marinated and the texture was tender. The braised egg fully absorbed the herbal sauce.

Bak Chor Mee Pok Smile Dec 23, 2014

There was a new Bak Chor Mee stall in Jurong West Kopitiam. The same kopitiam as the famous Latiffa Huri Nasi Lemak.

Maybe there was too many malay food stalls in this area, this Bak Chor Mee stall had a queue similar as long as the famous Nasi Lemak stall during Lunch hour.

The Bak Chor Mee prices start from $3.50 and goes up to $8.50 for their special Bak Chor Mee with abalone, which is not cheap compared to other food stalls in the same kopitiam. So I just decided to order the basic Bak Chor Mee Pok at $3.50.

The queueing system was troublesome for a small stall in a kopitiam. You queue at cashier to order and pay, then queue again to collect your order. All self service. The total time waited about more than 15 minutes to collect my order.

I realised nowadays Bak Chor Mee had a missing ingredient, which was pork liver. This stall also did not have pork liver.

The Bak Chor Mee though without pork liver still tasted good. There was no vinegar in this Bak Chor Mee. The sauce was just braised mushroom sauce which was savoury sauce with a hint of sweetness. The mee pok was springy but was a bit dry, I had to add a spoonful of soup into the noodle.

There was generous meat in this Bak Chor Mee with minced meat, mushroom, pork ball and fish ball. I was surpised why was there a fried fishball in this Bak Chor Mee? But the fried fishball compliment the dish.

King Dog BBQ Smile Dec 23, 2014

Burger King recently introduced a number of affordable menus, including breakfast. I ordered a King Dog BBQ which cost only $2! Better than other fastfood burgers.

The service was fast, I could get my King Dog BBQ within a few minutes of ordering.

The decor of recent Burger King seems to go into dim lighting, which I felt that eating in dim lights was a bit irritating as you cannot see your food clearly.

The King Dog BBQ was piping hot and looked big. It was about 1.5 times size of Ikea Hotdog bun. There was generous serving of mayo and BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce was the same sauce in the Turkey bacon Burger.

The King Dog BBQ tasted good. The bun was hot and fluffy. The hot dog tasted juicy and meaty, not those floury taste like IKEA ones.

Nasi Lemak Smile Dec 23, 2014

I had lived so long in Yuhua Estate and I did not realise there was a Cafe in Yuhua Community Club selling affordable and delicious local fare. The Cafe looked like a canteen style, service was no frills, self service.

During Lunch time, it was crowded with local residents. Luckily, I had managed to order the last set of nasi lemak. The cost of Nasi Lemak after adding the Achar was $3.

The sambal chilli was good, sweet and spicy with a hint of belachan. The rice was good, not too dry or soggy, just right with coconut fragrant.

The fried chicken wing was average, crispy on the outside and juciy in the inside, but was a bit too small.

The achar was good, the vegetables were crispy, there was mild sourish and chilli taste.

Passion Fruit Froyo Smile Dec 23, 2014

Categories : American | Fast Food | Halal

After Ilao Ilao, KFC also branch into Froyo dessert.

Currently, only a selected KFC branches offer this Froyo dessert. Only 2 flavours are available, orginal and passion fruit.

I had ordered the Passion Fruit Froyo. The cost of $1.50 was as cheap as fastfood soft serve. The serving was big for cup sized.

The taste of the Froyo was good. The texture was something in between soft serve milk ice cream and sherbet, creamy with some fine blend ice. The froyo was not sweet, instead here was this mild sourish taste of yougurt. The passion fruit flavour was mild.
