Homemade Prawn Chee Cheong Fun Smile Dec 23, 2013

After my nasi lemak meal at Jurong West, my stomach was still not filled. I walked around looking for a light snack and decided to have some dim sum.

I ordered the Prawn Chee Cheong Fun from Kimly Handmade Tim Sum at $1.80.

The Prawn Chee Cheong Fun had a slightly firmer skin. Inside the Chee Cheong Fun, there was whole prawns. The prawns had a crispy bite feel and tasted fresh. The soya sauce on the Chee Cheong Fun was specially made, it was sweet and savoury, not salty at all.

Overall, their Prawn Chee Cheong Fun was above average and the price was affordable too.

Curry Puff Smile Dec 23, 2013

Sin Lee Huat Confectionery is located near my house and they are opened since my childhood days. I always buy my bread and pastry from them. One of my favourite was their curry puff.

Their curry puff only available from noon time and they sell in limited quantity. The price of the curry puff is $1.10.

When bought during noon time, the curry puff was just out of the kitchen, piping hot. The curry puff's skin was thin and crispy on the outside. Inside the filling was generous amount of potatoes and a quarter egg, with nice aroma and taste of curry paste. Though I find the curry paste was slightly spicier than other curry puffs.

Overall, I find this was a yummy curry puff when you bougth it fresh from the kitchen.

My friend who lives at Bukit Batok, teold me that there is a new Chinese Bun stall that sells very good buns. Hence, when I was at Bukit Batok, I went to search for this Bun stall.

While I was there at about 1pm, most of the buns were soldout and the staffs were having lunch. I ordered a 大包 at $1.50.

The 大包 was steaming hot. When I teared open the 大包, the hot meat juice nearly burnt my fingers. The skin of the 大包 was soft anf fluffy and will not lump together in mouth. The filling inside was very tasty. It contained marinated pork and a quarter egg. The marinated pork was tender and flavourful.

Overall, this Chinese Bun stall was very good, the prices were also affordable.

Dim Sum Smile Dec 23, 2013

My family and I were shopping at Marina Square and decided to have some Chinese Food. We chanced upon this Bao Today which sells Dim Sum for the whole day.

We ordered a few dim sum from the menu. The steaming hot baskets of Dim Sum order came quite fast even though the restaurant was almost full of customers during lunch hour.

The prawn dumpling and scallop dumpling had fresh, crispy whole prawns, though the skin of dumpling was not so moist.

The green colour bun was Golden Sands Bun. I was not sure why they coloured it green. The bun was stiff and the filling was more of custard taste than salted egg yolk taste.

The xiao long bao had slightly thicker skin, but the filling was quite juicy and meaty.

Overall, their dim sum taste was above average and price was affordable.

Muffins & Pies Smile Dec 23, 2013

While I was shopping at Sunshine Plaza, my friend told me that there was a nice bakery here. Hence, I went in and bought some muffins and pies. There muffins and pies were not cheap though, the muffins at about $2 each and pies about $2-3 each.

Out of those muffins, I liked the chocolate muffin, it was moist and very rich in chocolate taste with many real chocolate bites.

The curry puff had many layers of fluffy slightly crispy skin. The potato fillings inside had a nice aroma of curry flavour and taste with right amount of spiciness.
