Curry Beef Rice OK May 03, 2011
Categories : Food Court | Zi Char

The curry beef is fragrant and not too tough. Smells good. That’s why I was tempted to try this dish. Someone from another table was having the same thing. But the rice is not dry enough for my liking. Maybe they rice is not of a good quality but you know what they say, when we pay peanuts, we get monkeys. Well, dishes offered by this stall are cheap of course as compared to the food outlets at Koufu Yew Tee Point.

Pretty Little Cakes OK Apr 30, 2011
Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop

I like how Toastbox created a relaxing café ambiance with vintage decorations and little accents such as wooden rocking horse and even a piano! Explains why people love to just hang around there with a cup of coffee/tea and a maybe a toast or cake to go with their drink. I had a strawberry cake which looked really pretty with a cup of milk tea. It was OK. Not too sweet but I guess the pretty appearance of the cake makes it taste better than it should had. smile

So-so only OK Apr 30, 2011

Categories : Hainanese | Food Court | Chicken Rice

Was super hungry so came over to Koufu for some rich dishes with a friend. We ended up ordering quite a feast for 2 at GW Chicken Rice & Noodles. We had char siu, roasted chicken, steamed chicken and braised egg. Price is reasonable but taste was so-so only. Meat was fine but the rice is not quite fragrant. In a nutshell, I find nothing special about this stall but its offerings did well in filling the tummy.

Mini Steamboat  OK Apr 30, 2011
Categories : Singaporean | Food Court | Chinese Soup

Fatty Wong Sze Tan offers Mini Steamboat on top of Seafood Soup Fish but I’ve decided to try the steamboat as I saw quite a few diners digging into their individual mini pot. It is ok. Reminded me of the mini steamboat I used to enjoy at NUS Arts Canteen albeit the latter is cheaper. Average portion of vegetables and meat though I wouldn’t mind having more veg. Seems like I’m perpetually complaining that food outlets are not generous enough when it comes to greens. What you think?

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Restaurant | Bak Kut Teh

Peppery bak Kut Teh. Loved by locals. I had to give it a try. Then I saw this on the menu: Pig tail!! Yippee! One of my fav snack! HEHE. Love the slippery smooth collagen texture of this dish. They served in the same broth as the pork ribs/bak ku teh. Nothing special for both dishes. The you tiao/fried flour fritters is also so-so. Not very crispy. Guess I'm a bigger fan of the herbal version of the bak kut teh dish. The thick soy sauce is not too thick - uh oh. Chilli also not very spicy. Seems like the offerings here are all too mild for my liking. But on a side note, there is a good crowd for this particular restaurant. You may wish to give it a try and see if you like it or not.
