Weekend brunch Smile Jul 18, 2015

Roosevelt’s Diner & Bar is situated in a quiet corner of Tanjong Pagar, away from the crowd yet easily accessible via NEL Outram Station exit. They offer hearty all-day dining in a casual setting, with a huge slant towards artisanal and gourmet fares.

The latte art is super instagram worthy! However, it is a tad too sweet for my liking, as I prefer it to have a slight bitterness after-taste.

As part of their weekend brunch, I would recommend Crab Cake Benedict - crab cake, English muffin, poached egg, garlic mayonnaise and served with side salad. Something different from the usual egg benedict and is reasonably priced for a real crab cake! It is a good deal smile

Something on the regular menu and it's only available from lunch to closing, BBQ Baby Back Ribs - $22 (half), $28 (full). The meat was tender and flavourful. If you are a meat lover, this could be for you.

I got to say Roosevelt is pretty generous with the servings!

The Royal Mail Restaurant & Bar is home to contemporary British cuisines and they has been driven by an aspiration to deliver delicate dishes that exemplify quality and creativity. Usually for fine dining settings during dinner, they will start by serving you bread and butter for a light start. And I have to admit I my mind was blown with this Gruyere Cheese Bread, it's like an aromatherapy to my soul, this photo simply do not do justice to how good this is! Soft and moist centered, filled with cheese and black pepper, giving you the hint of peppery spice.

Seafood Bouillabaisse [$28] is a starter worth trying, The tangy broth is filled with the seafood goodness therefore it will leave you with a strong aftertaste, best paired with a glass of wine to clear the palate. Thumbs up to the fresh and succulent langoustine (a type of large prawn), taste alike to lobster too.

Honey Glazed Kurobuta Pork [$56] is one of my favourite main! This ain't your normal pork chop haa! The apple butter sauce drizzle over the fatty pork is like the best combination, if it gets a little too fatty, the apple infused in white wine helps to cleanse the palate.

Amongst all, the classic earl grey tea takes a dessert variation in the invigorating Enhanced Bergamot Earl Grey Jelly [$15] - enlivening this dessert is frozen yoghurt, passionfruit coulis and macerated berries. I could not get enough of this! Sweet and sour, it is like a party on my palate smile

Chinese New Year Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng - $32.80 for Standard (serves 2 to 3) / $48.80 for Deluxe (serves 4 to 6). Available for dine-in or takeaway, from now till 5 March 2015. I love that the yu sheng is available for top-up ingredients such as Fried Salmon Skin, Crispy Yam Strips and other 3 more ingredients. In additional, Din Tai Fung uses their homemade sweet and tangy plum sauce, the overall taste is not as sweet as other yu sheng.

The next time you are there, try the Truffle Xiao Long Bao, unlike other truffle Xiao Long Bao, it isn't as oily and is so aromatically. I fell in love with the first bite!! Lastly, you can't go wrong with Din Tai Fung's fried rice, always so fragrant!

Revamped buffet spread Smile Feb 16, 2015

For full review http://nkikichua.blogspot.sg/2015/02/sakura-international-buffet-restaurant.html

With Sakura's revamped menu, experience the best of what Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Thailand, the US, France and Singapore have to offer, all at one price, in one place. I recommend to go for their Dinner buffet instead of Lunch, because of certain items are only available during dinner time.

Such as under the Local counter: Boston Lobster & Argentine Red Prawn Hokkien Mee - a new twist on a beloved favourite, Hokkien Mee. Love how the noodles have the wok-infused flavours. Both the lobster and prawn are pretty fresh and succulent, eat till your heart's content. Whereas for Lunch, it's only Prawn Hokkien Mee.

Other highlight for the Dinner buffet is the Egg Tart with Bird’s Nest, I'm usually not a egg tart person, and it would be rare if I have more than one serving. Especially the pipping hot ones right out from the oven!

For full review: http://nkikichua.blogspot.sg/2015/02/chabutons-premium-tonkotsu-ramen.html

Presenting to you the first exclusive ramen dish created by world's first Michelin-starred ramen chef, Chef Yasuji Morizumi. The premium Tonkotsu Ramen, The Kurobuta is only available from 17 January to 31 March 2015. Get it while stock last!

The blend of tonkotsu and chicken collagen soup is very thick and creamy, it’s also pack with nutritional values. Oh it just melts in your mouth, full of flavour and so savoury. Sadly the egg isn't very consistent, some turned out to be slightly hard boiled. Overall, it is worth trying!

One of my favourite ramen in Chabuton, Shoyu Zaru Ramen aka dipping noodles. I personally prefer thick noodles as compared to the ones in The Kurobuta. And Fried Squid is a must to order, crispy and chewy when it's served hot.
