Milkcow (Bugis Junction Outlet) Smile May 27, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Korean | Ice Cream and Gelato

Let's have another round of Korean soft serve, going organic this time.

A little different from the other Korean soft serve, here in Milkcow you can enjoy some of your favourite flavours on candy colour cones - simply just top up S$0.40.

The soft serve has a really strong milky taste, might be too strong for those who are lactose intolerant.

M11 Cookies & Cream (S$5.50)
With crunchy oreo bits, for oreo lovers or those who like to have their soft serve simple with not too much toppings covering the taste of the soft serve.

M13 Milky Shot (S$6.50)
Affogato. With single shot espresso. Very strong coffee flavour, definitely for coffee lovers.

M10 Milky Peace (S$6.50)
Drizzled with pistachio syrup and sprinkled with sunflower seeds, crunchy on every mouthful with the pistachio taste not so prominent.

My first encounter with them was at their Chip Bee Gardens outlet. Back then it was more like a touch & go experience.

The chance finally came, so here I am, Baker & Cook.

I am rather captivated by the way they decorate all their shops. It is, in my opinion, very artistically done.

What attracts me most definitely got to be the wide spread of top quality handcrafted artisan bakery products that they serves.

The first two items to delight the palate today.

Sweet Scone (S$4.50)
Warm soft scone that is a little buttery in taste and goes well with the jam provided on every table.

Chocolate & Almond Croissant (S$3.70)
This croissant is semi soft and taste rather decent. No wow factor.

And here comes the rest.

Pastrami Sandwich (S$9.50)
Melting cheese with soft pastrami on toasted bread, with the most simple ingredients creating a tasty sandwich.

Ham & Cheese Croissant (S$7.50)
Croissant was warmed up giving it a crispy soft texture. Paired with melted cheese and ham, makes this an all time favourite combination that will never go wrong.

Housed in this little shop space is Project Acai (pronounced as "ah sigh ee"), a simple and comfortably renovated cafe that serves healthy acai bowl and smoothies.

Acai - a reddish-purple berry that has beneficial antioxidant effects and anti-inflammatory properties.

The Acai Bowl - organic acai blended base topped with granola, variety of fresh fruits and superfood toppings all served in a bowl.

Here at Project Acai, they offers the acai bowl at different sizes - Handy (S$6.80), Medium (S$9.30) and Large (S$13.50).

Want something simpler? Go for The Acai Smoothies. Priced at S$8.50, choose from three healthilicious flavours - Beach Body To-Go for the coconut lovers, Yogi Wannabe-rry for those berry-licious fans and Where My Chocolate Abs? for the chocoholics.

The Acai Bowl - Medium (S$9.30)
Thick acai blended smoothie base pairing with all the fresh fruits and granolas makes you feels like you are eating yoghurt but minus the sourness. A tasty and healthy aftermeal indulgence that will not make you feel too guilty after consuming it.

Yee Cheong Yuen Noodle Restaurant Smile May 25, 2015

Categories : Noodles

Being not so familiar with Holland Village, I have no knowledge that Yee Cheong Yuen has actually been in operation since 1970. Transformation over the years to this little restaurant is indeed necessary to stay competitive especially in this area that is bustled with restaurants.

They offers a wide variety of selections ranging from hor fun, noodle and rice for ala carte orders or go for their set meals which is available for 1 to 4 persons. Side dishes, claypot rice are also items available in the menu and not forgetting their roast meats too.

As this is our first visit, we ordered the set meal so that we can try a few dishes without over filling our stomachs.

2 Persons Set Meal (S$21)
The set meal comprises of Oyster Sauce Kai Lan, Dumpling Soup, Luo Han Guo drink, choice of 2 meats (chicken/char siew/roast pork) and choose Hor Fun/Noodles/Rice to complete the meal.

Chicken and Roast Pork
Choose between white or roast chicken and we went for the former. Skin is smooth and meat is tender. The roast pork is yummy too with the crispy skin and slightly salty meat.

Oyster Sauce Kai Lan
Kai lan was soft but some does taste a little bitter and oyster sauce is the best combi for this.

Dumpling Soup
Just the norm with no surprise factor.

Hor Fun
Hor fun is soft and not sticky in texture. The gravy adds flavour to this and yet not too overpowering.

Rice
You can opt for plain white rice or chicken rice which I opted for the latter. The chicken rice is so fragrant and smooth yet not too oily.

Luo Han Guo (Hot)
A little on the sweet side but it sure taste like homemade and its soothing to the throat.

Barley (Iced)
Though its stated in the menu that it comes with luo han guo drink but I was given the choice of barley. The sweetness of the barley is just right and its not because of the ice diluting it.

A bakery cafe that I have wanted to try for the longest time. Finally this is fulfilled at their Ocean Financial Centre outlet.

This outlet has rather limited dining tables so its quite difficult to get seats during rush hours.

They serves a wide varieties of food ranging from salads, soups, sandwiches to breads, scones, cakes and lots more.

Of course beverages cannot be missing in a cafe. Other than coffee and tea, juices and bottled waters are also available for selection.
There are yoghurts too!

Soups and sandwich breads of the day are visibly displayed near the order counter so that choices can be made before one reaches the counter.

For ala carte soup orders, you may proceed to this counter to get the bread to go with your soup.

They offer daily sets for sandwiches which come with a small soup priced at S$11.50 or S$12.50 depending on the choice of the sandwich. You can add S$2.50 for a coffee or tea to complete your meal.

Premium Smoked Ham (Ala Carte - S$8.50)
With melted cheese, mayo, lettuce and tomato pairing with the toasted Rustic Country White bread - a sandwich combi that will never go wrong.

Curry Pumpkin (Comes with Set)
Curry Pumpkin!? A rather unique combination for a soup. Adding curry into pumpkin soup not only enhances the flavour it also makes the taste of the soup not so boring.

Chocolate Addiction (S$5) + Ginger (S$0.50)
It surprised me how it actually matches with each other. The sweetness of the chocolate and the spice of the ginger kind of neutralises each other, making this drink not too sweet with ginger flavour minus the spice. Perfect drink for a cold rainy day.
Nice!

Slow-cooked Tender Pulled Pork (Ala Carte - S$8.50)
Here I am trying out yet another pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork is really tender and a little spicy. Topping up with avocado, mayo, lettuce and tomato together with the toasted Mixed Grain bread, makes this sandwich really savory.

Grilled Red Pepper & Tomato (Comes with Set)
Red pepper, thought it might be spicy, but not at all! Combining tomato with red pepper, the taste of these two really blends with each other.
