Lunch at Ah Yat Restaurant OK Dec 04, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

Lunched at Ah Yat Restaurant at The Village, located next to Jurong Bird Park. Was on a weekday and was rather crowded. Waited for around 10 minutes for the first dish to be served.

Liked the fish skin as it was very crispy. The carrot cake was one of my favourites. Also had Shanghai dumplings and a few other dishes.

Service was rather inefficient due to peak hours. Ambience was nice. Overall, I liked most of the food but the meal was expensive and servings were small.

Wanton Noodles at Lai Lai Kitchen OK Dec 02, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Noodles

Visited Lai Lai Kitchen on a weekday afternoon during lunch time. The place was crowded due to the timing and it was difficult to find seats. Took about 15 minutes to queue and get the food.

The noodles were delicious and but slightly more expensive than food court. The char siew and wanton were not too bad. Nice ambience but a little too packed.

Overall, I like the wanton noodles but not worth the trip due to the price and location.

Chicken Satay at Satay by the Bay OK Nov 30, 2014

Categories : Malay | Hawker Centre | Halal

Ordered chicken satay and ketupat from Sri Geylang Sate on a weekday afternoon. Waited for about 15 min which was acceptable as it was close to dinner time.

Price of 70 cents per stick and $1 per ketupat was rather steep but understandable since it is located at a tourist attraction.

Satay was not very juicy and tender in my opinion. The chunky peanut sauce was good but not spicy enough. There also seemed to have sugar grains in the sauce.

Ketupat was rather small and the same goes for the portions of onion and cucumber.

Overall, the satay was acceptable but pricey.

BK Long Chicken OK Nov 28, 2014

Visited this Burger King outlet on a weekday afternoon. It was a little crowded but still able to find seats. The queuing and waiting time was acceptable. Took around 5 minutes. Service was efficient.

The chicken burger tasted good but personally did not like too much mayonnaise in it. The burger went well with Fries. Portion rather small in my view but should be sufficient for most customers.

Carrot Cake - Fu Ming Cooked Food OK Nov 28, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Hawker Centre

Bought black carrot cake on a weekday night. Queue was reasonable. Had to wait for about 10 minutes. The portion is relatively smaller than other places for the same price of $4. A little too oily in my opinion.

Service was good. The place was not crowded and seats were available as it was past peak hours. Overall, the carrot cake tastes average and is overpriced. Not worth the trip unless you happen to be nearby.
