Nasi lemak at Qi Ji OK Dec 05, 2014
Categories : Halal

Bought Set 3 nasi lemak from Qi Ji at Nex on a weekday evening. The place was crowded as it was dinner time so had to takeaway. Service was quite efficient. Only waited for about 10 minutes.

Asked for more sambal chilli as I love its sweet and spicy combination. Also liked the rice and chicken. The ikan bilis and and fried peanuts were still crispy even after reaching home.

Overall, the nasi lemak was good and I liked it but too pricey for that quantity. Will only eat this once in a while.

Lunch at Ah Yat Restaurant OK Dec 04, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

Lunched at Ah Yat Restaurant at The Village, located next to Jurong Bird Park. Was on a weekday and was rather crowded. Waited for around 10 minutes for the first dish to be served.

Liked the fish skin as it was very crispy. The carrot cake was one of my favourites. Also had Shanghai dumplings and a few other dishes.

Service was rather inefficient due to peak hours. Ambience was nice. Overall, I liked most of the food but the meal was expensive and servings were small.

Chicken Satay at Satay by the Bay OK Nov 30, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malay | Hawker Centre | Halal

Ordered chicken satay and ketupat from Sri Geylang Sate on a weekday afternoon. Waited for about 15 min which was acceptable as it was close to dinner time.

Price of 70 cents per stick and $1 per ketupat was rather steep but understandable since it is located at a tourist attraction.

Satay was not very juicy and tender in my opinion. The chunky peanut sauce was good but not spicy enough. There also seemed to have sugar grains in the sauce.

Ketupat was rather small and the same goes for the portions of onion and cucumber.

Overall, the satay was acceptable but pricey.

Unagi Rice Burger @ Mos Burger OK Dec 17, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Fast Food | Ice Cream and Gelato | Burgers and Sandwiches

Ordered Unagi Rice Burger on a weekday evening. Waiting time was around 10 minutes.

I loved the unagi as it was well marinated and was quite tasty even though it had some soft bones in it. Probably not suitable for young kids and elderly. Rice patty was well grilled and soft as usual. Nothing special about it. Portion of unagi was rather small and is extremely pricey in my view.

Overall, I liked the burger as it was not salty and not too sweet. The teriyaki sauce was tasty but a bit on the dry side. Insufficient sauce on the unagi. Quite good in my opinion but the portion was not sufficient for a full meal

McChicken @ Jurong SuperBowl OK Dec 16, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American | Fast Food | Ice Cream and Gelato | Burgers and Sandwiches | Kids-Friendly

Went to McDonald's at Jurong SuperBowl on a weekday afternoon during lunch time. The queue was short but had to wait around 10 minutes for the food.

This place was not very packed and had plenty of seats even though it was during peak hours. The ambience was nice and service was acceptable.

I liked the chicken patty as it was tender but the outer layer was not very crispy. Personally, i did not really like the addition of mayo, but the patty still went well with the soft sesame bun and lettuce. I also liked the french fries as they were piping hot and not too salty. Overall, I liked the McChicken, but it was not fantastic. Price was average for that amount of food.
