New coffee place OK Mar 26, 2012

Categories : American | Café

I came across this newly open cafe behind duxton a week ago thru magazine.

Tanjong pagar has became a hang out spot for coffee place where all the cafes and restaurant started to grow at this spot. Many people's criticism about this whole neighborhood getting way too crowded during peak hours are completely accurate. You are unable to get a proper table have a book and coffee on a peaceful weekend afternoon. cafe and coffee are always out of supply!

Selfish gene located few doors away from the famous plain cafe, it has spacious seating area where you will not find any problem getting a good spot for your reading. I had a cappuccino at sgd4.80, very standard price and nothing special about it. Will try on their food on next visit.

For the laksa Smile Mar 22, 2012

A heaping bowl of goodness: a flavourful coconut laksa booth for your spicy craving.

Long story short, this is my new favourite place for cheap eats with air conditioning. Laksa is solid here and the quality has always been consistent. The coconut curry soup base is fragrant but not heavy. what i like about it they serve with mee tai map, very chewy and not too soft, goes well with the gravy.

For only sgd5.50 comes with a huge cup of barley, all day long. a real steal.

Tips for you all, request for additional laksa gravy, you will not get enough of it!

Recommended Dish(es):  laksa

Spending per head: Approximately $5.50

Authenthic white Lor Mee Smile Mar 21, 2012

It is my first time trying the white Lor Mee. And this is the must try item in this place.

A very old school environment which gave people a very homey feeling while dine in. Their Lor met are made of flavourful broth top with many different ingredient which is resh clams, fresh prawn, pork slice, special tao pok, veggie, and others and the not forgetting the main ingredient, lor mee.

Other than that, fried lala is one of their signature dish where you can see every table will have it. I love how they cook the lala, where they still remain the freshness of the lala and never overcooked or covered them with other flavor.

Try to be there early to avoid disappointment. It can be very very crowded and we always have to share table with others just to have the food!

Affordable western food Smile Mar 21, 2012

Categories : American | Coffeeshop | Steaks and Grills

I've been going to Botak Jones since they first opened, and for good reason. The food is delicious, the prices are affordable, and the service is amazing. My 1st visit to this to a payoh branch. We ordered each of us a set of western food. and i decided to try cajun chicken set which comes with 2 side dished.

The chicken is topped with a layer of melted cheese and their cajun sauce, an intensely garlicky, spicy, aromatic mixture that I find myself rather enamored with. Chicken is flavorful and juicy too. And not forgetting it was served with very big portion of side dishes. And the whole big plate of thing only cost me SGD8.90!

Meanwhile, If you want a cheap, yet tasty place to get fish and chips then this is the place to go!

P/s: the coleslow much tastier than kfc one.

BlueMist Cafe OK Mar 21, 2012

Categories : Hotel | Kids-Friendly

As tanjong pager are getting bombard by all the cafes and restaurants now, blue mist which located at amara hotel are still able to keep up the standard with their food even after re-opened.

I use to have lunch over there and went back last week to pay a visit. As usual their services are prompt and efficient, cheerful staff which never bring a frown to customer and able to deliver what we requested.

I had a Grilled dory fish set for lunch, value for money for the portion they served. Definitely a place worth trying.
