Tiong Bahru Fishball Smile Apr 13, 2012
Categories : Hawker Centre

This is the famous Tiong Bahru Fishball store which I have fond memories enjoying their fishballs my parents bought from the store when I was younger. Ever since the store moved over to the new hawker centre, I have not tried so i decided to have them that day. I love fishcakes and fishballs so I really loved this dish although it was a little oily! You get to choose a variety of fishcakes and fishballs and the uncle will re-fry the pieces for it. They have fishcake in the shape of a you tiao which was not bad. Their chili is not that tasty but the fishcakes themselves can already be quite salty.

Hot Brownie with Ice Cream Smile Apr 13, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Café | Ice Cream and Gelato

It was a hot sunny afternoon at Haji Lane shopping! Popped into this shop which serves ice cream as a side business with a portion of the shop set aside with chairs and tables. They serve desserts like fudge cakes and brownies. I ordered a brownie with ice cream on top. It was really mouth watering! smile The brownie was re-heated in the microwave oven and there was melted chocolate all around. Eaten together with the ice cream, the hot cold sweet combination was really perfect!

A little too oily Laksa  OK Apr 13, 2012
Categories : Food Court | Noodles

It was a cold morning and out of the many options at the foodcourt, i decided to have laksa. It was quite a big bowl of noodles. The ingredients were normal- fishcakes, tau pok, cockles but there was no egg! ): The gravy was flavourful, not too much coconut or chili but was just a little too oily. It was literally red!

Soy Mlkcurd Cry Apr 13, 2012
Categories : Desserts and Cakes

I thought this tau huey would be as good as the one from lao ban but apparently not. The shop served other milk curd flavours like green tea, honeydew, strawberry but I chose the original. The texture was too soft and watery. The tau huey also was also a little diluted and the flavour not as rich as what I had expected. I asked the aunty if it was ready to be eaten (thinking perhaps the dessert had not set properly) but she said its suppose to be like that. ): I doubt i would ever order this again but perhaps the other flavours.

healthy chicken rice OK Apr 13, 2012

Categories : Hainanese | Hawker Centre | Restaurant | Kids-Friendly

This restaurant opened quite recently, an open concept restaurant, serving reasonable good chicken rice. We ordered a full chicken and some side dishes like sweet and sour toufu. The rice served was fragrant, not too oily and was not mushy too. Their chicken was a little bland because there was not much oil and sauce over but a very healthy choice! I like the way the homemade barley drink was served in a jar, quite a cool concept. I enjoyed eating at this restaurant because of the warm ambience that this restaurant provides for its patrons.
