Hidden "Paradise" OK Jun 28, 2011

Categories : Restaurant | Seafood

Not many people heard of this place before they expanded out of Defu Lane into Chinatown, Flyer etc. It's so obscure most would miss it if they did not know there's a "paradise" right inside Defu Industrial Estate.

I come here for lunch occasionally when the car goes for servicing at the workshop few blocks down the lane. It's not crowded on weekdays but on weekends, you have to make reservations even though the surrounding is a dead town! They are great for their Butter Crab, Wasabi Prawns, Homemade Beancurb in Seafood Sauce..

Drunken Prawns.. Smile Jun 25, 2011

My frens brought me to Ban Leong about 2 years ago .. 2 weeks after we had dinner at Jumbo Seafood. They told me there's a place where the drunken prawns are really nice and it's much cheaper than the popular seafood restaurants!

Indeed, the prawns are big and fresh and the taste is pretty much similar to what Jumbo has! The La La, Fried Mee Suah are all the regular dishes we have everytime we are there. I didn't think the crab is good though..

Black Pepper Crab

Black Pepper Crab

A colleague of mine came down from Taipei and some of us decided to bring her to the last standing seafood restaurant along Upper East Coast Road, away from the hustle and bustle of the city area. Hua Yu Wee is an old bungalow converted into a restaurant that has an alfresco as well as air-conditioned dining area. We ordered many of the chef's recommendations and when the final dish came out, everyone seated at the table near ours turned and admired in awe! The pepper crab of 2kg each looks like transformers on a plate! and needless to say, it was simply delicious. The meat was tender and the pepper was very fragrant! A must try!

Recommended Dish(es):  Black Pepper Crab, Chilli Crab, Mee Sua, Drunken Prawns, Mango Juice

La Mian OK Jun 27, 2011

Was planning to pick up something from Tampines One and decided to head to Imperial Treasure for lunch since we have never tried the food at this branch before. It was crowded during lunch and we had to wait 20mins before getting our table.

The dishes were similar to what Crystal Jade has to offer but I didn't find the standard of the food any better than Crystal Jade and my fren concurred too.

It was lunch time and I was at going to buy some stuff at Singapore Expo and stumbled upon the Texas Chicken Outlet. Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out, having eaten KFC for years, and then Popeyes. The queue was long but that did not deter me from getting a taste of the new addition in town.

The spicy chicken meal I ordered suited the taste buds well that day. I love the level of fire in the chicken, the tenderness of the meat, and the fries were excellent except I felt the sides were too small. Overall, it was also not as oily as KFC which is great.
