A bowl of ramen for you? Smile Aug 12, 2012

Sapporo Miso Ramen

Sapporo Miso Ramen

Have always been a fan of Cha Shu when it comes to ramen choices, surprisingly, this bowl of miso-based ramen tasted pretty good, not too saltish! Though the serving of Cha Shu slices were not generous, I'm glad that it was soft in texture and quite tasty too. Another plus point is that the flavoured egg is cooked according to my liking, especially the best part - yolk lol
Mentaimayo Gyoza

Mentaimayo Gyoza

One unique thing about Daikokuya is that this restaurant serves some special choices of Gyoza. Hence, I have decided to forgo the original ones and ordered the Mentaimayo Gyoza (6 pcs) which are salted cod roe pan-fried dumplings with salted cod roe & mayonnaise. Indeed, it was really good, didn't know that Gyoza would go well with cod roe, crispy and crunchy at the same time!

Overall, had a quick dinner there on a weekend, good ramen experience. Would love to visit again for another Gyoza speciality!

Traditional BBQ Chicken Wings

Traditional BBQ Chicken Wings

This is my all time favourite at Old Kim Guan, the traditional BBQ chicken wings! It definitely tastes as crispy as it looked, the chicken meat is pretty tender and soft too. Do remember to head down fast before dinner time as sometimes, the chicken wings can be sold out rather fast!
Dry-Stirred Noodles

Dry-Stirred Noodles

Had the dry-stirred noodles for my main, though its appearance may look like a typical bak chor mee (minced pork noodles) at the hawker centre, but it tastes delicious! I love the chewy noodles that goes really well with the very flavoured minced meat, and not forgetting the sauce which makes everything good!
Herbal Chicken with Rice

Herbal Chicken with Rice

The herbal chicken was great too, can taste the many hours of brewing herbal taste of the soup. Don't worry, it isn't as herbal and bitter as it sounds. The chicken itself is so smooth and I love drinking the herbal gravy on its own too. Best with white rice, or you can even try the popular glutinous rice too!

All in all, came to know about OKG after working at an office nearby. Almost all the dishes are good, got a pretty heart-warming feeling to have them, they taste like those home-cooked food which you will miss when you are away from Sg. Definitely worth a try, or even many tries!

A lunch date at Vanilla Cafe. Smile Sep 01, 2011

On my second visit back to Vanilla Cafe & Bar, had a quick yet delicious lunch there.
Pork Belly Don

Pork Belly Don

Firstly, the Pork Belly Don served with really tasty and tender pork slices with a reasonable amount of sticky Japanese rice. Love how the egg is done, the runny egg yolk just blend in with everything so nicely.

Smoked Salmon Linguine

Smoked Salmon Linguine

Craved for some pasta that day, so I ordered the Smoked Salmon Linguine for myself. I totally love how the pasta is served, the sauce isn't too creamy at all. I did not have a hard time trying to finish the whole dish. The smoked salmon was rather fresh with it was not too peppery! Yum.

I really enjoy dining at Vanilla Cafe, next visit would definitely want to try the Dirt Cake!

The Muffinry!

The Muffinry!

As located at Telok Ayer Street, The Muffinry is rather easy to be spotted from its bright orange exterior along the row of shop-houses. As named, though it is quite a newly opened cafe, The Muffinry serves really amazing muffins of many flavours, both sweet and savory ones.
Double Chocolate and Apple Blueberry Crumble

Double Chocolate and Apple Blueberry Crumble

Muffins are definitely a must-try when you are at this cafe. The Double Chocolate (on the left) tastes just nice, not too sweet. The best part of it is that the chocolate is really smooth and goes so well with the moist and fluffy texture of the muffin. Best to have it when its warm with the melting chocolate. Yum, chocolate lovers would surely love this muffin!

I always have apple crumble for its crumble. For the Apple Blueberry Crumble (on the right), the crumble was rather crispy and there were a generous amount of blueberry bit as well. Love this muffin too!
Muffins with Cappuccino

Muffins with Cappuccino

Not forgetting, the coffee served was really awesome. Somehow, it is rather quite hard to find a good cup of coffee with coffee art details in Singapore. The cappuccino was not too bitter and surprisingly sugar is not added for myself. Both were served in very pretty and colourful cups. Seeing the coffee arts so beautifully done, it just makes me happier to drink it along with my muffins too.

The Muffinry is definitely I would love to visit again and again and again, for their muffins and coffee. Heard from the friendly owners that there may be sandwiches and soups. Hopefully there would be more food items added to the menu. Muffins all day long!

Basil Almond Pesto Chicken Linguine

Basil Almond Pesto Chicken Linguine

The Basil Almond Pesto Chicken Linguine tastes pretty good, with pesto chicken chunks and probably with olive oil as well. Quite a good choice of spaghetti dish, if you are considering to try one which is not tomato based.
Chunky Sausage & Tomato Linguine

Chunky Sausage & Tomato Linguine

The Chunky Sausage & Tomato Linguine really has a generous servings of chunky sausages which is the best part of the whole dish. The tomato based sauce is rather sweet as well, simple yet yummy.
Crispy Curry Chicken & Spicy Chilli Fries

Crispy Curry Chicken & Spicy Chilli Fries

For a more filling dinner, you can consider ordering the Crispy Curry Chicken & Spicy Chilli Fries. This main dish is something special as it is curry flavored, but not to worry, the spiciness is not that overwhelming, even non-chilli eaters like myself can enjoy this dish too. In addition, the chunky fries are served with a little curry flavoured seasoning and a salad with corn too.
Butterscotch Apple & Mixed Berries Crumble

Butterscotch Apple & Mixed Berries Crumble

Last but not least, had the Butterscotch Apple & Mixed Berries Crumble as our dessert and this is really good stuff! The crumble with lots of apple fillings is served warm, and with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream on top of it, it just melts in the mouth. For people who loves berries as well as apple crumble, this is definitely a dessert you would not want to miss at FTT!
