Walked and drive pass this stall a couple of times so decided to organise a gathering there. We can choose whether we want to sit downstairs (quite hot) or upstairs (aircon).

We ordered the pomfret steamboat. There are 4 types of fishes to choose from: Pomfret, Song fish, Red Snapper and Grouper. The soup base taste really good. Best of all, there is free refill of soup. Love how the steamboat is presented with charcoal burning right in the middle of the pot.

We ordered fried shrimp rolls because my friend said that it is nice and a must order. Taste good too. Especially when dipped with the dark sweet sauce that is provided with the dish.

I did a quick research and found out that a lot of good comments had been given for the Special Homemade beancurd and decided to try it out. True enough, the crispiness of the exterior mixed with the softness of the interior of this dish makes it stand out from the rest of the beancurd I have tried. I can have the entire plate to myself. This is a must try!!

My friend likes the sambal sweet potato leaves. I didn't quite like it because of it's sogginess but it's just me. My friend love it!

This is the entire meal that fed 5 of us.

Katong laksa Smile Dec 13, 2011

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Noodles

The wall of the shop is filled with pictures of the boss (Mrs Lucy Koh) and some international artists. There's actually 2 shops (aircon and non-aircon) side by side. I normally go for the aircon one. Service was quite fast. And the interesting thing to note is that they don't serve all items together so everytime they serve you something, you pay only for what is being served to you!

After so many years, the quality of the laksa didn't change abit. Still taste as good. I ordered the medium size bowl which cost only $5. Added cockles and I thought they were pretty fresh and not overcooked.

Never fail to order the otah ($1 per piece) whenever I visit. The meat taste really nice and it's very smooth. I normally pop it right into my laksa and eat it with the gravy.

For drinks, I had lime juice. Helps to clear the oil ($1.20).

Spending per head: Approximately $7.20(Dinner)

Buddy meal Smile Dec 12, 2011

I always love KFC and would always go for the original. I tried crispy a couple of times but didn't quite like it because I find that there's just too much flour. Took advantage of the buddy meal promotion that comes with 2 sets of 2 piece chicken, 2 egg tarts, 2 coleslaw (we changed one of the coleslaw to cheese fries) and 2 soft drinks. The egg tart is the Portuguese style type with great tasting pastry, flaky skin. I thought that the buddy meal set is a good value for money.

Yummy CKT Smile Dec 06, 2011

Yummy char kway teow (CKT). I have been to this stall a couple of times and there was never once where I have never seen a queue. This ranks next to the one I used to eat at the corner of Mosque Street (Chinatown) which had been closed because the son who took over the stall didn't manage to maintain the same standard.

This CKT is wet, not too sweet and fragrance (pork lard added). The cockles (for those who love those little shells) are fresh and not overcooked. A must try at Zion Road Food Centre! I had the $3 plate.

Big bowl of mala mix Smile Dec 05, 2011

Categories : Sichuan | Food Court | Steamboat/Hot Pot

My lunch partner suggested that since I like Mala hot pot, I should try this dish at the foodcourt. You choose your own ingredients and they mix it up for you. I find the mala spicy enough and my partner chose lots of vegetables which I like. The vegetables are fresh and every bit produces crunchy sound. We had cabbage, fungus, lotus roots, celery, luncheon meat, bamboo shoots. The presentation was also quite interesting! It came in this huge bowl that almost look like a basin! We spent $25.15 for the meal which I think it's a little pricey in terms of foodcourt setting.
