lor mee OK May 08, 2012
Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

I went to this stall for breakfast and was met with a long queue. Since I am already there, I just went ahead and queue and luckily, the queue moved quite fast. I ordered the lor mee which comes with a thick gravy with ingredients like the fishcake, crispy fried stuff, wu xiang etc. I also requested for more vinegar to give it more kick. The ingredients are quite little since there is only a few pieces. However, I love the gravy, it is thick and not too starchy and the vinegar does help in lifting the taste of the lor mee. However, because of its pathetic ingredients, I am not sure if I will be back.

char kway tiao  OK May 08, 2012

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Hawker Centre | Noodles | Kids-Friendly

I was looking at other people ordering this and I thought it was quite funny because it is the first time I had seen a pile of green vegetables on top of char kway tiao. That made me queue for it as well. I ordered the $4 portion (smallest portion is $3).

The char kway tiao is quite alright. It does not really have the wok hei but that is still ok because the kway tiao more moist and the owner fried it well as the sweet sauce is spread evenly among the kway tiao without one portion being too salty or bland. The vegetables are also quite alight, I like the silver fish which is crunchy and add a different texture ot the kway tiao. However, the only thing not good is the portion, it is quite little for $4.

Spending per head: Approximately $4

nacho cheese potato bread OK May 08, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Bakery

Breadtalk is one of my staple whenever I need something to tide me over until dinner time. There are a wide variety of breads there, and you can definitely find one bread that will be to your liking. I went for the nacho cheese potato bread which I have not bought for quite sometime. The nacho cheese flavour is like those cheese where you get for dipping fries in, so it is pretty rich and cheesy. The potato is fried until crisp and it is quite tasty. Although I find this bread to be quite nice, but it is rather expensive given that the ingredient is only potato, so next time I probably will not get this unless there is an offer.

tom yum OK May 07, 2012
Categories : Thai

I was at Expo for the fair and my and my hubby, for a lack of other choices, decided to dine in at Lerk Thai. We ordered the tom yum soup and a plate of stir fried kailan to share among the two of us. The tom yum soup base is clear, but fiery when you drink it continously. I quite like the level of spiciness while my hubby was wiping away the sweat from eating this. The ingredients are quite little though, so for the price it isn't really that worth the money although I love their soup. The kai lan is also tasty with the sauce but it tastes slightly oily to me. Overall, I thought the food here is ok, but slightly pricy in my opinon.

black sesame paste OK May 07, 2012
Categories : Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

This dessert stall serves quite a number of different hot desserts like tau suan, black sesame paste, peanut paste, red bean soup etc. I decided to go for the black sesame paste which is my favourite paste to order at dessert stalls. The black sesame paste is quite thick and fragrant and it is very rich in sesame taste. However, I felt that it is slightly more sweet than I would like it to be. If it is just slightly less sweet, it will be perfect.
