fish soup OK May 07, 2012
Categories : Hawker Centre | Porridge/Congee

This stall usually has the longest queue during peak lunch hours. And of course, with the owner preparing each bowl only upon order, the queue moves quite slowly as well, so you definitely should not order this if you have only 1hr for lunch since by the time it reached you, lunch hour would almost have been over. I am not working now, so I can afford the time. What I like about this is because the soup is really tasty and the fish slices are very fresh and breaks easily in your mouth. However, that said, it is not very exceptional such that I will spend 45minutes of my time queuing up for this. I would only come back again if there is a shorter queue, because there are many other nice food in the hawker centre which do not need such long waiting time.

egg tart and drink OK May 07, 2012
Categories : American | Fast Food | Halal

Although I have been quite a fan of egg tarts, this is my first time trying KFC's egg tarts. Each egg tart costs $1.30, which is rather expensive in my opinion. The egg tarts here are the portugese egg tarts which are sweeter than the normal egg tarts. KFC's version of it is quite nice, just that it is a little sweeter than I was expecting it to be. The pastry is also rather greasy, so overall, I found it to be just ok. I also ordered a cold ice pepsi drink to cool down on a hot day.

nasi lemak set OK May 06, 2012

Categories : Malay | Hawker Centre

There are various different choices of sets for the nasi lemak which you can choose from if you don't want to think, or you can order the ingredients separately. I chose to go for their standard sets, which include an egg and fried drumstick. The egg is rather greasy as expected, and I didn't finish it. I love the rice as it had a nice coconutty fragrance and their chilli which is flavourful enough with a good balance of spicyness and slight sweetness. The chicken is also great and well seasoned, just that it is a little cold, if not it will be better.

ice kachang OK May 06, 2012

There are two dessert stalls relatively near to each other but I chose to get from this stall since the desserts on the storefront looked more visually nicer and have more varieties. I ordered the chendol. The mashed ice comes richly soaked in coconut milk and the coconut syrup (gula melaka). The taste is a little too sweet for me, perhaps the gula melaka is a little too much. The green jelly like stuff is not as soft, so that is a little disappointment. The red beans are sweet which adds on to the overall sweetness of the dessert. I think next time if I do order this again, I will request for less gula melaka.

honeydew sago  OK May 05, 2012
Categories : Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

There is a great variety of different desserts to choose from and to whet your sweet tooth but I decided on the honeydew sago dessert since it has been some time since I last had it. To me, the best honeydew sago has to have sweet honeydew and to have the right balance of milky taste from the coconut milk and honeydew flavour in the syrup. The honeydew here is quite sweet which passes my first criteria. The syrup however, it too coconutty for me such that I can't really taste the honeydew, which is quite a pity. The sago are not rubbery so I have no complains about it either. If only it is less coconutty, it would be perfect.
