Mixed Vegetarian Food Smile Sep 06, 2012

Categories : Singaporean | Hawker Centre | Kids-Friendly

Brought a plate of the mixed vegetarian food for lunch which includes the vegetarian char siew, tau kee and the stir fried brocoli. Generous portion are given for each dish as most of the rice is being covered. Firstly, the vegetarian char siew has a colour in brown, soft and tender texture and has the same taste as the red char siew. As for the tau kee, it is very well cooked, has a soft and smooth texture and the gravy is well seasoned. Lastly, the stir fried brocoli has a homecooked taste, sufficient cooked and a crunchy texture. A three dish mixed vegetarian food only cost $2.50 and is very reasonable and food taste good as well.

Chee kueh Smile Sep 06, 2012

Brought a set of the four pieces chee kueh as brunch.
The chee kueh has a nice mini dome shape, well made as it has a soft and spongy texture. As the chee kueh has a bland taste, it is accompanied and eaten with the chai pok. The chai pok from this stall has a nice fragrance, crunchy and finely chopped texture, not too salty and goes very well with the chee kueh and lastly it is quite oily. Price starting from $1 for four pieces to $2 for eight pieces.

Fishball noodle Smile Aug 28, 2012

Long queues were seen during breakfast hours queuing for this stall and have decided to join in and have a try on their fishball noodle. After queuing for about 15 to 20 minutes, it was finally my turn to order. The presentation wise is not that appealing with the ingredients spread around the noodle. The noodle is well cooked, soft and QQ texture. Seasoning wise has a light vinegar and slight spicy taste. The ingredients for the fishball noodle includes fishball, sliced fishcake, round fishcake and some meat dumpling. All the ingredients taste fresh and especially the fishball has a very good texture with a soft and spongy texture. Overall, I think it is worth queuing for this stall and the food taste good.

After a walk at the tiong bahru market, my family members and I have decided to buy some pastries back home. In the end, we brought several items which includes the squid ink baguette, sugar brioche, raisin croissant and some pies. The moment we step into this shop, we were welcome by the wide variety of 'fake' bread and pastries that is placed on the left side of the shop. On the right hand side will be the range of pastries placed neatly with the friendly and bubbly staff waiting to their our orders. This is actually my first time trying the squid ink baguette as it is seldom or not even found at our bakey shop. Although the outer texture of the baguette is quite hard, it taste quite good and has a mild squid ink aroma in it and has a soft texture on the inside. As for the sugar brioche, coarse sugar is sprinkle on the top with a nice round and golden brown colour. Taste wise has a buttery aroma and has a very soft and fluffly texture. For the price wise, it ranges from $2+ for a sugar brioche to $7 for a pie. Although it is a bit pricey, the quality and taste of the pastries is definitely worth the try.

Soya bean with grass jelly  Smile Aug 27, 2012

Categories : Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

Saw a long queue during breakfast hours queuing for this drink stall and decided to join in the queue to buy some drinks. In the end, I have brought the traditional black and white drink which is the soya bean with grass jelly drink. This cup of drink has a nice fragrance, distinct soya bean taste and no grainy texture as the soya bean is well processed. The grass jelly is equally cut, not too thin nor thick. The grass jelly taste is similar to other stall and has a nice and refreshing taste. The drink is not too diluted and the sweetness is just right, not too sweet nor bland. The approximate waiting time is around 10 minutes.
