Okonomoniyaki Gyoza Smile Sep 26, 2012   (Related Review)

Bishamon offers several interesting gyozas. I decided to try the Okonomiyaki gyoza. It costs $6.80 for 6 pieces and $11.00 for 10 pieces. The pan-fried dumplings are topped off with the toppings of a typical okonomiyaki. It has the brown sweet sauce, which was moderately sweet. Also, there was the bonito flakes and spring onion. Overall, the combination was pretty average. The sweet sauce does overpower the taste of the gyoza. However, it did taste good so I wouldn't mind having it again.

Butterscotch cookies Smile Sep 14, 2012

Walked past famous amos and couldn't resist the smell of the cookies. I decided to try the butter scotch cookies for the first time. As usual, the famous amos cookies had the nice baked smell and very crispy. The butter scotch cookies are actually way less sweeter than the chocolate flavoured cookies. I especially liked the mixture of the taste of chocolate chips and a slight butter taste. I would totally recommend these bite sized cookies to people on the go. They are tasty and convenient.

I bought 200gm so it cost me $9.20.

Curry chicken chop OK Sep 14, 2012

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

This restaurant is opened not long ago, replacing the Jia Xiang Mee in Jurong Point. The menu mainly lists the food items with minimal visual aids. Didn't know what to expect when I ordered for the curry chicken chop.

Unexpectedly, its just a bowl of rice with a bowl of curry. The curry is pretty diluted and tastes similar to local curry. The potatoes used were pretty powdery, the ones that I dislike. However, the chicken was coated with a certain kind of flour which I like before fried. To many it may be salty but I really like the taste of the chicken. Also, it went well with the curry.

It was filling but definitely not too satisfying. It has very little meat and personally I really didn't like the curry taste along with my rice. It costs $7 for this excluding the taxes. Also, do take note that they charge for their plain water (30 or 50 cents, can't remember accurately)

Seafood yaki soba Smile Sep 12, 2012

I went to yakiyakibo for dinner and ordered for the seafood yaki soba. This is my favourite food item in the restaurant. It is Japanese style fried noodles. The yellow noodles are very springy and no stinky "yellow noodles smell". There is a sweet sauce used for the dish which sticks to the noodles. Its not too sweet and is a perfect complement. The seafood used is very fresh. Overall, it is very delicious and filling. I have had it several times and have been recommending it to people. Costs only $11.90.

Grand Sampler Smile Sep 12, 2012

Categories : Steaks and Grills

I was at Bugis+ and decided to have the Grand Sampler at Astons for lunch. It costs $13.90. It comes with four kinds of sausages. Some uses chicken meat, others uses pork. The sauce that comes alone is same/similar to the sauce they use for their mashed potatoes.

The sausages were very good, with a really crispy outer skin. In fact when I took a bite out of one of the sausages, there was a "POP!" sound in my mouth that surprised my friends. The insides are very juicy. Overall, these sausages are very well cooked with great taste. I personally prefer to eat it plain without the sauce. I would totally have it again.
