Ajisen Ramen Smile Mar 09, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Ramen | Kids-Friendly

Went in at around 5.30pm so there weren’t any queue ;D

The staff is friendly and service was prompt.

As usual, we ordered the ramen set where the price includes 1 ramen + 1 Ala-Carte + 1 drink.

I ordered the Pork Kimuchi Ramen with white fish ala-carte.

The Pork Kimuchi Ramen is actually kimchi ramen.

The kimchi has it’s spiciness but the soup base is not spicy, hence the ramen is not really spicy.

Love their rich and thick soup with the chewy texture ramen ;D

The ramen portion is as always, considered a lot to me as I would get really full after finishing the whole bowl of ramen.

The kimchi taste isn’t too strong though, I would prefer it to be more tasteful.

The pork slices are thin and delicious.

The white fish outer is crispy and the fish within is fresh and juicy.

Coupled with the mayonnaise and sweet & sour sauce served, it brings the dish to a new level of taste that makes it appetizing ^^

As always, we enjoyed dining at ajisen. Delicious food and great service.(:

If I were to pick any unsatisfactory, it will be that I would always be so full after dining there lol

Golden Pillow Smile Mar 09, 2013

Ordered golden pillow 933 for our second day of Chinese new year gathering ;D

Bought the Golden Pillow Curry Chicken Bun and the Golden Pillow Curry Squid Bun.

It’s my first time trying it and it is really quite a big portion. The bun is really big and the curry is wrapped inside the bun, which made it that interesting lol

The curry chicken is nice and not too spicy, would love it if the curry is thicker for the bun to absorb more taste.

While I felt the curry squid tastes more towards a tom yum taste. Although it is not tom yum but there are ingredients like lemongrass that made the curry fragrant like the tom yum.

The bread is not very soft though, but still fluffy enough to have it with the curry ;D

The chicken and squid in each curry bun is quite generous too.

We also ordered other dishes like fried pumpkin with salted egg yolk, fish fillet with sweet and sour sauce, fried mee hoon, fried chicken wings and a chicken dish.

The fried mee hoon is not bad. Not too heavy on its seasoning, suitable with the curry.

Out of all I like the fish fillet. It is topped with sweet and sour sauce and cabbage which made it appetizing.

Overall we had a pretty great meal lol

Cakes! Smile Mar 09, 2013

If you are craving for some desserts after 9pm, this will be a pretty good choice to consider for some cakes ;D

It was on a one-for-one offer after 9pm so I bought it!;D

Some of the flavours are already sold out though.):

So I bought the black forest sliced cake and the chocolate truffle sliced cake.

Each piece cost $5.50 if without the one-for-one promotion.

The black forest cake taste was a little light and would be better if the berry taste is stronger.

As for the chocolate truffle, it is quite thick and it is quite nice ;D

When it is on the promotion it is definitely worth it ^^ would probably try other flavours next time.

Buffet Lunch Smile Mar 09, 2013

Went for the buffet lunch at seoul gardens ;D

It has been ages sinces I last dined at seoul garden. What I could remember was dining there with my family when I was a child and could not really remember the taste and experience.

This time, being there with my friends, im excited to try out seoul garden again lol

There is quite a wide variety of meat that are seasoned with different flavours such as kimchi, curry, garlic chilli, Sichuan etc.

Loved the kimchi flavoured one the most!;D

Probably because I’m a kimchi lover hence I liked it that much.

All the meat are well seasoned with sufficient flavour and yet not too salty or overly seasoned.

We mainly ate the only the bbq meat. As for the small steamboat, the soup was clear and refreshing but it got a little too salty after boiling for some time with the ingredients we added.

The staff would also change the dirty/burned bbq hotplate for us if we requested for it.

There are the dispenser drinks. And what got us interested was the self-service ice shaving.

It is like a DIY ice kachang sort of dessert with lots of ingredient for us to add.

Furthermore there’s also the ice cream.

Would say the variety there is considered a lot as compared to some others buffet restaurants.(:

And with the student price, which costs around $16, it’s really worth it lol

Golden Sands Bun Smile Mar 08, 2013

Categories : Bakery

Love the breads from this bakery ;D

Reason being that it is cheap and nice.(:

All of the bread costs below $1, even for those with fillings.

The basic one is the butter boom, which is simply butter filled bun which is very fragrant and nice lol

The highlight this time is the golden sands bun, which is similar as 流沙包.

It is a mixture of salted egg, custard, butter etc. and the filling will flow out from the opening.

I ate it when it was warm and surprisingly the filling is still able to flow out and it is really delicious^^

Could taste quite a rich salted egg yolk taste.

What’s more is that it cost only $0.90 for a golden sands bun ;D

Tried some other flavours before and it is really nice too, and there are still other flavours which looks equally yummy. Excited to try them out next time.(:
