taiyaki Smile Jul 26, 2012

i was shopping around ion with my daughter. We passed by the taiyaki and could not resist to grab one for our tea. we both ordered their custard flavor. the snack itself was shaped like a fish. Inside the fish, you can find the filling. The snack itself is very chewy. mine had quite a lot of charred bits. Nevertheless, the filling is really good. the custard is not too sweet. it is very smooth and creamy. goes well with the chewy exterior.

I shared with my son’s his peranakan food. he ordered the babi pontei. The separated the portions into tiny servings. I found the gravy of the babi pontei a little oily. There was a layer of oil on the surface. But it was pretty easy to remove the oil. The gravy is really good, very tasty. the meat is very tender, no need to chew much too. I think it is pretty good. price reasonable too.

I must say that the service that this branch mcdonald’s provide is really good. I went there at around 11.40pm with my husband. This branch closes at 12am. We ordered their fries to go. The boy at the counter asked if we were willing to wait and he would fry us a fresh portion of fries. It was really nice of him. He actually bothered to take care of the quality of food that they serve to their customers. The fries he served us was piping hot and very crispy. it is really this sort of actions that really makes your day.

Every time I walked pass gong cha, I always find myself so tempted in getting myself a cup. This time round I got myself a green milk tea. normally for other Taiwanese bubble tea shops, you get to choose what size drink you want, but for gong cha, they only have medium size. I always find it not enough cos their drink is really good. the green tea is very fragrant. I like how creamy their drink taste. And my choice of 25 percent sweetness is just right, not too sweet.

My kids were craving for steamboat so we headed to bugis for our steamboat dinner. to me, bugis is the land of steamboat, the first place that comes to my mind when I think about steamboat is bugis. We finally settled for zhong hua. they have kimchi soup! my daughter was so thrilled about it. I ordered the normal chicken soup since we got two choices. The kimchi soup was not too bad, there were a lot of kimchi added to make the broth. The chicken soup was a little bland for me. but the buffet was satisfying.
