Serenity Smile Mar 27, 2012

Categories : Spanish | Bars/Lounges | Paella

Serenity Spanish Bar and Restaurant is located at the ground floor of Vivocity. If you request for alfresco dining, you will get a seat overlooking Sentosa – the view is gorgeous at night. And not to worry, we did not encounter any mosquitoes there.

We ordered a starter: Albondigas. Its basically 2 huge beef balls with a tomato sauce, onions and peas. I especially liked this dish because of their generous tomato sauce topping. However, given the tiny portion, I felt it was rather pricey.

We also ordered the paella Valencia. Which is a rice dish with seafoods such as prawn, mussels, fish, squid and also chicken and chinese sausage. I found Serenity’s paella no different from other paellas I’ve sampled before. Though this is the first time I’ve tried a paella with chinese sausage!

Takopachi Smile Mar 27, 2012

after walking through the myriad of shops at TAKA food basement, i decided to have the tapoyaki. it costs $2.50 for 3 pieces and we did not have to wait. we got the pre-made ones but it was still very hot. there was option for octopus, prawn or bacon and I opted for the octopus one. fish flakes and mayonnaise was added on top of their own "tapoyaki" brown sauce. Together it tasted great and the tapoyaki was just nice on the outside, but soft and creamy on the inside

Spending per head: Approximately $2.50(Other)

Chili crab  Smile Mar 26, 2012

We ordered Jumbo’s signature dish: the Jumbo Chili Crab, and of course we would not have forgetten to order the must-have side dish – fried man tou. What I like about Jumbo’s chili crab is the sauce. It isn’t far too spicy and oily like many chili crab dishes in Singapore, and it is unique to jumbo.

Moreover, the crabs are always fresh and the served with their shells cracked slightly, making your life easier when struggling to crack open the crabs.

Additionally, you can buy the packaged version of jumbo’s chili crab sauce back home to try and prepare your own home cooked jumbo chili crab. We bought 2 of the packages ( 1 chili and 1 black paper), but have yet to try them out.

Recommended Dish(es):  Chili crab

PIzza Hut @ Jurong Point OK Mar 26, 2012

Categories : Pasta | Halal

I visited jurong point's pizza hut recently and decided to order the cheese mushroom baked pasta as i have not tried it before. The place was not very crowded (we went on a weekday afternoon) and we managed to get a seat without waiting. The order was quickly done and the food was served in around 10 minutes.

The first thing we noticed about the baked pasta was that the pasta was covered in cheese and thats a good thing for cheese lovers but we weren't so fond of it. beneath the layer of cheese there is a substantial amount of mushrooms which we really liked. mixed within the baked rice were a few strips of chicken - we felt they could add more meat. The cheese was a little salty but still too heavy which made the dish very filling

Spending per head: Approximately $10.90(Lunch)

Tofu Beef Bowl OK Mar 22, 2012
Categories : Japanese

For a change I deviated from the normal beef bowl I always order at Yoshinoya. I ordered a Tofu Beef Bowl – which is just an addition of a few slices of silken tofu. While it tasted reasonably nice, I was disappointed with the few (and I mean really few) slices of tofu served. Because I ordered the meal set, it came with a drink (I had green tea).

This outlet at PS is rather crowded though, compared to the other outlets elsewhere. But customer turnover is high and I have not yet encountered a need to queue very long for a seat.
