KOREAN BBQ Smile Mar 22, 2012
Categories : Korean | Restaurant | Buffet | Korean BBQ

A great place for group gatherings, though remember to go very early to queue up to secure your seats. Early as in before 6pm early.

Food wise, the selection was decent, there were meats, kimchi, watermelon, vegetables for wrapping the cooked meats in, and mushrooms. The meats were well seasoned, I particularly liked one type that tasted a bit like char siew (though I couldn’t tell what sort of meat that was. Just look for a reddish sauce one). Service was very prompt- they changed the aluminum foil on our hot plate many many times without us prompting them. Drinks are self service bottles of cold water.

My complaint about 2D1N is its very hot and stuffy in the restaurant and everybody’s sweating like crazy throughout the meal. Being a Korean bbq, expect to stink up your hair and clothes.

Putien Meesua Smile Mar 22, 2012

Categories : Fujian/Heng Hwa | Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

I ordered a meesua (small) which cost $7.90 if im not wrong. Fairly cheap considering their other dishes, but portions were for a single person so don’t expect a big bowl. I absolutely love their meesua. Its ‘dry’ meesua which means no soup but the noodles are still swimming in some sort of sauce (which is very nice to drink by the way). The toppings include prawns (fresh and taste great with their homemade chili), shellfish (2 types, one of which I felt wasn’t very fresh), tau pok, egg, vegetables and a sprinkle of seaweed.

Ps: their homemade chili is absolutely not to be missed. It’s the highlight of going to putien.

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Lunch)

Ghim Moh market prata Smile Mar 22, 2012

Categories : Malay | Hawker Centre | Halal

In search of cheap and good prata? Try ghim moh market. Nearest MRT: buena vista, Bus: 100. In the mornings, theres normally a relatively long queue at this stall, but the queue moves fairly quickly. Im a big fan of their prata (i have it at least once a month) because its not too oily like many of the pratas nowadays, sometimes if you're lucky you get ones with crispy edges, otherwise the normal ones are also great because they do not become soggy if you da bao them back home. And they are always willing to give you more curry upon request. Oh talking about their curry - its really thick and fragrant, i never waste a drop of it.
It is not opened at night though, so no prata supper fix here.

Best fish head curry in town Smile Mar 22, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Indian | Restaurant | Curries

As the title says, Karu's really does have the best fish head curry in town in my opinion. Its curry is not too spicy yet not too bland, it serves a generous portion of vegetables in its curry and i have never found their fish to be unfresh.

They also sell pappadam (indian cracker) in packages of 18-20 uncooked pieces for $1. All you have to do is deep fry them before starting on the fish head curry and you will get fresh crispy pappadam to go with the curry.

One reason why i always take away is because your clothes and hair will smell of the curry after a meal there. Do remember to bring your own pot there if you are taking away because it will save you the extra money for the extra large container necessary to house the gigantic fish head.

Goldilocks OK Mar 22, 2012
Categories : Singaporean Western

Goldilocks is located in Never Land at USS. It offers fast food, similar to KFC. The deco got us all excited taking photos. When we were there around noon, it was very packed – the queues were very long and we couldn’t find seats.

We ordered 1 tub of spicy chicken and 1 tub of normal chicken. Both tasted just as good as KFC though I personally preferred the spicy chicken because the normal one wasn’t as fragrant.

Prices were reasonable, not as expensive as many of the eateries at USS. Besides we didn’t eat too much because we were going to continue with the rides after lunch.
