Cafebiz - fantastic buffet  Smile Mar 27, 2012

I would totally recommend this buffet. It has fantastic seafood, a wide selection of dishes and mouth watering desserts. Even the complimentary fruit juice was great – the orange juice was pulpy and definitely not syrup base! And the waitresses were ever attentive and very helpful when I asked for a surprise birthday cake for my uncle.

First the seafood – sashimi, oyster, clams, prawns (cold ones and grilled ones). All fresh, all big and sweet.

The others –there were so many I can hardly remember all now. What left an impression was the indian food (surprisingly nice for a hotel buffet), the cheese section (suits our Asian taste bud, unlike a few other buffets that serve very strong cheese that we are unused to), the soup (bakuteh was very close to hawker standards!)

And the desserts – HEAVENLY. I particularly enjoyed the tarts, waffles and cheesecake. In fact, if you are a desserts person, I would suggest starting from the desserts then going on to the rest of the buffet. Its really too good to miss anything.

Curry baked rice Smile Mar 27, 2012

Categories : Pasta | Halal

We went on a weekday afternoon but there was already a small crowd. Thankfully we managed to get a seat pretty soon like 10 mins after queueing at the PS branch. We ordered the 1 for 1 lunch special and got ourselves the curry baked rice. The order took quite some time and we waited for around 20 mins to be served. the portion was reasonable but could do better. The baked rice itself was good and tasty but i felt there was too little meat in it. There was cheese in the baked rice and it melts together with the curry sauce giving it a unique flavor especially to those who are very used to the usual local curry taste it was not spicy and I would have preferred a bit more spice and heat, but otherwise the taste is very good.

Spending per head: Approximately $10.90(Lunch)

Nando's Smile Mar 27, 2012

I ordered a ½ chicken with 2 sides ($22.90) which are peri chips and peri potato salad. The ½ chicken tasted just like normaly roasted chicken, nothing very special. The peri chips were similar to mac donald’s shaker fries, however the seasoning is better. The potato salad was a winner, it was smooth and tasty and the portion was just right. When ordering chicken, you will be asked for the spicy-ness level you want. A word of advice, just order the mild peri peri flavour if you are unsure because there are 4 bottles of 3 different chilli sauce (mild, hot and extra hot) and 1 bottle of lemon and herb on each table. You can always add more chilli on your own.

Serenity Smile Mar 27, 2012

Serenity Spanish Bar and Restaurant is located at the ground floor of Vivocity. If you request for alfresco dining, you will get a seat overlooking Sentosa – the view is gorgeous at night. And not to worry, we did not encounter any mosquitoes there.

We ordered a starter: Albondigas. Its basically 2 huge beef balls with a tomato sauce, onions and peas. I especially liked this dish because of their generous tomato sauce topping. However, given the tiny portion, I felt it was rather pricey.

We also ordered the paella Valencia. Which is a rice dish with seafoods such as prawn, mussels, fish, squid and also chicken and chinese sausage. I found Serenity’s paella no different from other paellas I’ve sampled before. Though this is the first time I’ve tried a paella with chinese sausage!

Takopachi Smile Mar 27, 2012

after walking through the myriad of shops at TAKA food basement, i decided to have the tapoyaki. it costs $2.50 for 3 pieces and we did not have to wait. we got the pre-made ones but it was still very hot. there was option for octopus, prawn or bacon and I opted for the octopus one. fish flakes and mayonnaise was added on top of their own "tapoyaki" brown sauce. Together it tasted great and the tapoyaki was just nice on the outside, but soft and creamy on the inside
