Since it has been a long time since i had a portuguese egg tart (which is harder to find in Singapore compared the chinese egg tarts), i decided to opt for that instead of the normal ones.
In my opinion, what appeals to me from a portuguese egg tarts compared to a normal one lies in the portuguese egg tart custard having a more milky taste and nice brown top (from caramelised sugar?) in a flaky pastry base. Crystal Jade ones meet all aspect. The smooth custard smooth tasted like creme brulee and was not overly sweet or milky. Accompanied with the flaky pastry which is just right and not too thick, the whole soft and crispy combination won my heart.
