cheap and tasty korean food Smile Jan 10, 2013

Visited this small stall as i was attracted by their cheap price compared to other restuarant in The Central. I ordered a combo of saba fish and stir-fried slice pork. After payment at the counter, i was given a empty small bowl which i am entited to free-flow of seaweed soup located at a corner of their stall. A small sauce plateful of kimchi and anchovies. I requested for all kimchi instead as i don't like anchovies and the stall holder was really nice to give me double portion it.

The seaweed soup was light-tasting with the natural sweetness of the seaweed. My saba fish and pork was served side by side on a hotplate and i was pleasantly surprised that the portion was quite substantial. The pork, stir-fried with onion slices, and the fish both tasted good enough for their economical price. Good to satisfy the stomach when one craves for simple, plain koreanish food.

nice crepes Smile Jan 10, 2013

Out of the Pan serve a wide variety of crepes ranging from savoury to sweet, as well as sweet waffles.

I went there last Sunday and ordered a 'Sweet and Sour Fish and Assam Prawn with lady finger, pineapple and cucumber' as stated in their menu. We have a option of their plain crepe, whole wheat crepe, and sun-dried tomato crepe. I chose the sun-dried tomato crepe which i find the most interesting.

When it was served, the long crepe was cut into two and placed beside a side salad dressed with olive oil and vinegar. The crepe was crispy at the end and soft in the middle (probably due to the stuffing inside), which gives 2 contrasting texture which i really like. There was not much tomato-taste, but the light reddish hue of the crepe makes the food looks more appetising to me. The filling has a really good balance of sweetness, sourness and hint of spiciness.

Overall, a really enjoyable meal. lol

very disappointing Cry Jan 09, 2013

Hearing many reviews about this restaurant, i decided to drop by for dinner after work. I ordered pineapple rice and the interesting stuffed chicken wings that i had never came across.

The food was served quite fast. However, i was surprised when the pineapple rice appeared messily scattered and was quite little despite its high price of $10.90++. Nevertheless, i proceed to dig in here comes my bad experience- the fried rice was super oily! The wetness of the rice was from all the oil it is drenched in. The only saving point is the sweet pineapples and raisin which makes it less sickening.

Next, the deep-fried chicken wings, coated with a thin layer of batter, was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I really feel amaze and applaude the chef for pain-stakingly removing the bones without harming the skin and stuffing it with their own minced chicken mix. However, it was really tasteless on its own. Maybe that is why they give a side of thai chilli as their dip? To me, $8.90++ for 3 tasteless chicken wing that require shelf-off sauce for taste is really overly priced despite the tedious work behind it.

Total damaged is $21.80 after gst and service charge.

Overall, i am really very disappointed with the food and will not consider patronising it again.

nice dessert Smile Jan 03, 2013

Took away a slice of Tofu Cheesecake after shopping around Far East Plaza.

On first look, the cheesecake is really small in size despite it costing $4.50 each. However, it is really big in taste! The cheesecake was very light and not too sweet. There wasn't any strong tofu or cheese taste, but it just taste so velvety and delicate. Together with the digestive cookie base, the taste was really will balance- smooth snd fragrant.

My only grip is that there was some gelatine bits in the cheesecake. The digestive cookie base was also really wet, but i think it is not a bad thing as i prefer soft texture.

Overall, it is a really refreshing dessert that you can have even after a very full meal. I would recomend you to dine in as they charge an additional 50cents for takeaway box.

I will be back for their sushi that have received many positive feedback.

Christmas 2012 OK Dec 25, 2012

Feeling attracted by Swensen's christmas menu, i dropped by there and ordered a "Grilled Turkey Breast and Chestnut Stuffing" as i would like to grab the chance to taste some 'real' turkey instead of the more common processed turkey ham that are should in supermarket all year round.

The grilled turkey breast comes with a meat patty on top and drizzled with herb gravy, accompanied with brussel sprouts, carrots, glazed chestnuts and mashed chickpea potato. There was also a serving of cranberry sauce at the side in a small saucer.

Disappointingly, the turkey breast, being the main star of the dish, was really tough, dry and tasteless. Fortunately, the herb gravy and cranberry sauce saves it from its flaw. In contrast, the meat patty was soft and full of flavour. It was grilled golden brown on both side, adding a smoky taste to it.

The accompanied brussel sprouts and carrots were tasteless too, without any sauce for them. Nevertheless, the mash potatoes was soft and tasty, while the glazed chestnut (my favourite item in this dish) was really sweet!

Overall, a rather upsetting meal which i won't return for. Maybe other items in the Christmas menu would be better.
