R Burger Cry Oct 25, 2011

Categories : Japanese | Stall / Kiosk

Having read good reviews and seen the long queue when we were last here, we headed for the stall while it was still quiet, and ordered the R Burger – a beef patty with shiso leaf, pickled daikon in a steamed mantou bun.
I really didn’t like the flavour combination
essentially the shiso leaf overwhelmed all the other flavours, with the daikon second and the beef patty a distant last place. I didn’t care much for the mantou bun either. I know it’s meant to be a light and fluffy alternative to a regular burger bun, but I found it a bit sticky and unpleasant

Our table was seated right in front of the open kitchen, which meant we could see our steaks being cooked, but also meant we ended up smelling of steak by the end of the night
It’s certainly not cheap – a decent cut of steak starts at around $45, which prices slowly increasing depending on the cut, origin and whether the cow was grain or grass-fed.
This was a huge hunk of meat, but much of the weight was in the bone. It was grilled really well, with a nice charred exterior and quite rare inside. However, we weren’t raving about the meat as much as those who had the rib fillet. I guess there was less fat in our cut, so the meat, though well cooked, tasted a tad one-dimensional.
Dessert was an absolute rip off. The chocolate trio consisted of a crème brulee, chocolate tart and ice cream. The tart was the size of a 50 cent coin and tasted like it was store-bought. The texture of the crème brulee was like pudding – not very pleasant at all.
It was worth a try, but I don’t think it’ll be the first place I think of when I have a major craving for steak.

Our dinner place! First time eating here, recommended by Daniel!
Price’s reasonable and wide selection of HK style food. Apparently the taste is different from HK Cafe, more towards authentic HK food
My noodles was really good! The wanton has this super huge prawn inside, and really really good and tasty. Doesn’t have the ma ti thingy which I hate
Soup was really flavorful and noodles texture’s good.

Yoshinoya  OK Oct 25, 2011

I rarely frequent this place because it’s not exactly very nice nor cheap. But well, that day I just felt like eating it. Every where’s super crowded!
I always get the salmon and chicken combo. The rice is cooked just right. Not too soggy or hard and the veges are my favourite.
Fizzy Pop Drink - It’s actually just sweetener + 7-Up. And has some jelly like thingy at the bottom.
Overall, a generally steady choice if you want something quick, although prices seems to have risen

Pepper Lunch Express  Smile Oct 25, 2011

Pepper Lunch is my no 1 favourite food and I can eat the same thing over and over again without getting sick of it.
And whenever I meet up with my friends, I’d suggest going Pepper Lunch! It’s really super nice I love to add their Honey Brown Sauce and their butter and black pepper tastes really special. Only bad point is that you stink after that, but it isn’t that bad actually
I always add cheese (additional $0.90) for my dish. It used to be only $0.50, then it increased to $0.70 and now $0.90.
But still is very worth to try !!
