Cajun chicken and fries Smile Dec 18, 2011

I really like the cajun chicken because the size of the chicken is larger than my palm. It's topped with lots of melted cheese and with the cajun marinade, it makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

You can pick two out of the many side dishes they offer, but I picked the corn and cajun fries.
The cajun fries are a good complement to the meal and are flavoured perfectly. The corn is also steamed and buttered. Sinful, yummy goodness.

I will be back to try out their other dishes!

Tasty, crispy chicken Smile Dec 18, 2011

I prefer Popeyes to the other fried chicken chains as their chickens are crispier. The mashed potato sides also come with bits of bacon in it to provide a different texture and mouthfeel.

I usually eat fried chicken with tomato ketchup, but don't have to with Popeye's chicken. That's how good it is!

Affordable steak Smile Dec 18, 2011

Hot Tomato offers a variety of dishes at extremely low prices. Don't expect too much from the food as it's not particularly amazing. It feels like a fast food joint. The main courses come with aglio olio and salad and cost under $15. It's tasty and decent enough to warrant revisits.

My aglio olio was a little too oily but I liked the way my steak was done. Although they used a cheap cut, the entire steak was lean with only a string of cartilage along the side which is a plus point.

Whenever my friends need a recommendation on restaurants, I know they will never go wrong with Tao's. For all the times I've visited (~10 times), I've always been offered attentive and thoughtful service. The food is consistent and there is value for money at about $23 for 6 courses.

My favourite bacon and cheese gratin that comes with lightly toasted bread. The servers will politely ask if you require more bread. At this point, say NO. You will know why afterwards.

After the appetiser comes salad (fruit salad with crabstick), soup (cream of mushroom soup) and drink (rose apple tea).

More often than not, I'll order the oven roasted steak as my main course. It is a generous portion and the meat is very tender. Love it!

If you can still manage, the last course is dessert. I usually choose creme brulee.

The consistency in food and service is the reason for the high ratings on food review websites, and it shows.

Meat buffet for only $22 Smile Dec 18, 2011

$22 for an authentic Korean meat BBQ buffet is really worth it. So much so that I went an hour before it opened to get in during the first round. It was worth it. There're a lot of choices to choose from, different types of chicken and pork meat in generous cuts. They also offer sikhye, a sweet rice drink that's refreshes you in between rounds.

The staff are very attentive and swoop in to change the aluminium foil once there are carbon bits on it.

The standard way is to wrap your meat with lettuce together with kimchi and bean paste before eating it. It's a good idea to skip lunch in order to maximise your tummy space for this meat feast.

The place is a little stuffy though, as it's crowded with a lot of tables using the hotplates. Be prepared for the lingering smell that sticks onto your clothes.
