Me and 5 of my girlfriends headed to Morganfield's at Star Vista for our Christmas Celebrations and dinner. We made reservations beforehand so we got really nice and comfortable indoor seatings. At first we wanted to order two full slabs of ribs to share between the six of us but the waitress kindly recommended that their Morgan's Christmas Ribs Platter ($129.90). They also have two other platters, Turkey Platter ($139.90) and Seafood Platter($129.90), but we were there for their ribs so it was not a very difficult choice. The platter is for four people to share, so having six people, we thought we could add on more desserts later. When they served the Ribs Platter, we were alarmed by how large the platter was. I am certain my picture does not do justice about the size.

This huge platter includes, a Christmas Caesar Salad with Prosciutto, Sausage Platter comprising of 4 sausages, Half Slab of Hickory BBQ Sticky Bones, Half Slab of Smoked Peppercorn Sticky Bones, Half Slab of Tuscan Baked Spicy Sticky Bones, side dishes like French Fries, Redskin Mashed, Corn on the cob and Pilaf Rice. They also have a yummy dessert platter which comprising of Warm Brownie, Warm Banana Cake and Warm Bread Pudding. There were also two scoops of ice cream - vanilla and chocolate.

In fact this restaurant serves three different flavours of ribs and all of which were on the platter. However we were all not very much into spicy food so the waitress offered to change our Half Slab of Tuscan Baked Spicy Sticky Bones to another Half Slab of Hickory BBQ Sticky Bones, which means we had a full slab of the Hickory BBQ Sticky Bones.

The Hickory BBQ Sticky Bones were the hot favourite among all six of us, the sauce they use is just sweet and sour with a tinge of BBQ spiciness. The ribs were very meaty, we could practically lift up the meat from the bones. It was so tender and juicy. The Smoked Peppercorn flavour was a little hot, tasted like black pepper sauce, went pretty well with the ribs.

In fact, it was kind of an overkill for the six of us cos the portion was too much. The mashed potato was very good, it was not watery at all, the consistency was just right to dig your fork in and scoop up a chunk. However, I found the corn a little dry and it somewhat sticks to your teeth. It did not have much buttery taste as well.

The Pilaf rice was very fragrant, has this faint buttery taste, too bad we were so stuffed with the ribs we could barelt finish the rice. The four sausages on the sausage platter had different flavours, and the cheese flavour was my favourite. The cheese actually squirts out when i sliced into it, and it gave me a shock but it was awfully delicious.

This was the aftermath of 6 hungery gals.

It is the Christmas season and everything as Baskin Robbins is so bright and cheery, even their cups for the ice cream has Christmas designs too. I ordered their junior cup ($4) which contains 2.5oz of ice cream. They have a wide selections of ice cream like Rum Raisin, Citrus Twist Ice Sorbets but I chose their usual and common flavor, Mint Chocolate Chip. What attracted me first was the delicious mint colour of the ice cream. When they serve me the ice cream, it was really delicious. The ice cream was very milky, it had this strong mint flavor as well. the chocolate chips were pretty large in size that you can taste the chocolaty taste. The fusion of the mint and chocolate is really good.

for the sweet tooth Smile Dec 15, 2012

For all those new to chewy junior, I would like to recommend you to the goodness of this snack. I bought a box of 6 for $9 and receive a free “original chewy”. I just introduce each of the 7 delicious chewy cream puff.

Starting with the “original chewy”, it does not have any toppings, if you were to eat it after the other toppings one, it would taste a little plain and bland. but I was smart enough to eat it first, you can actually taste the creamy butter cream that they pumped into the “original chewy”. the puff itself was not plain tasting, it had this tinge of sweetness too.

I shall start introducing the flavoured toppings ones. The one at the top left hand side is “Tiramisu Deluxe”. They added tiramisu flavouring on top of the puff. The coffee taste was light and not too overpowering, somehow it went really well with the lightly flavor cream.

Next to it on the right is the “oreo” topping one. The chocolaty taste of the oreo made the puff taste very yummy. The oreo crumbs sprinkled on top of it give it a different texture instead of just plain chewiness. When you bite into it, the oreo crumbles will mix with the cream in the puff, the chocolaty vanilla flavor makes it to die for.

On the top right, we have some like white chocolate with almond flakes. The almond flakes give it a crunch, like the different layers of textures, crunchy, chewy and soft. The white glaze is a little on the sweet side but it makes the puff taste nicer.

Then below it is the chocolate with almond flakes, not much difference just that they replace the white glaze with normal chocolate. The normal chocolate is not too sweet, just the right sweetness.

The chewy junior next to it is just chocolate with white glaze. I found it a little sweet as it did not have any other toppings to balance the sweetness.

The last one is chocolate with cornflakes, I guess it is my favourite one cos even though the conrnflakes did not have much taste, but the chocolate toppings gave it a burst of chocolaty sweetness. Mixed with the cream inside, it is indeed to die for!

Not to mention, they also have savoury puffs but I like mine sweet!

My mother and I went to eat the zi char at yew tee food court. As we were not big eaters, we ordered a medium size salted fish and chicken fried rice and an additional hotplate toufu to share among the two of us. The salted fish and chicken fried rice was really delicious, love the salted fish bits among the fragrant rice. they were pretty generous with the chicken bits too. the hotplate toufu I must say is the highlight of the meal. the sizzling gravy with silken toufu and an egg made it so visually appealing not to mention when you dig in, it was totally delicious. The gravy was not oo salty and went well with the fried rice.

mini steamboat Smile Dec 14, 2012

Now this stall not only sells fish soup, they also ventured to sell mini steamboat too. they have three soup choices, the non-spicy would comprise of herbal soup and chicken soup while the spicy would include the tom yum soup. they also have different ingredients to choose from like chicken or seafood. Of which I decided to try their herbal soup with seafood ingredients. I must say for $5.50, the portion of the ingredients is really a lot. It almost overflowed out when I added most of the ingredients. There was a mussel, fish slices, prawn, crabstick and plenty of vegetables. The chinese cabbage did make the soup taste sweeter. The herbal taste was not too strong yet you still can taste it. I choose their special cabbage rice instead of the normal white rice. the cabbage rice is very fragrant. you can find bits of mushroom and cabbage amount the brown coloured rice. it was not too oily as well. I think for a change it did taste a lot nicer than normal white rice.
