Gogo beanz = take a go OK Dec 05, 2010

Another shop along the busy alley in Jurong Point. It's next to Westlake, and opposite the much better Red Laquer Authentic Penang Peranakan.

It has the right mix of products (see photos) expected of a food court standard soya bean product stall. To validate the quality, I always order the basic - soya bean drink - before I order anything else. As this is my first time patronising the stall, I ordered the warm soya bean drink. It's fresh and not too sweet, but it's not thick too neither does it have the subtle soy bean magical taste.

The auntie looked tired and dazed. I don't blame her. She is along a busy alley. Just that I don't really like her impatience at customers.

However, I am glad there is something simple to quench my thirst as I proceed with my tasks.

Affordable Penang Cuisine (Yummy) Smile Dec 05, 2010

We hesitated for a while, but my mom wanted to try something different. Ok, she is the real food reviewer. It seemed rather high class as it was so well decorated. We were seated and was delighted that the set meal cost just over $10. It came with starter, main dish and a choice of drink.

You can order the main dish by itself, and it would cost $10.90 onwards too. We know why when we received our set meal - the dishes were smaller.

I like the Tau Eu Bak the most. The Roti Babi (Hope I spelt it correctly) for starter was a little like French toast, except that it was thick with indian curry smell. Wow.

The service was also excellent, good introduction and well managed. We switched order, and they took it well. Later even after we had exited the restauarant, I went back to take some water for my mom's medicine and they politely asked if I needed warm water.

The only slight shortcoming was the portions are relatively small for a big eater like me. When it's delicious, you want more, you see.

Quite impressed. Got to go back.

Poly food - round 1 Cry Dec 05, 2010

Categories : Japanese | Food Court | Ramen | Brunch

I was driving along the singapore polytechnic when I thought hey, how is the food there like? NUS and NTU have each a few good stalls. How about SP? I went in and saw a small queue for Asian Delights - which sells japanese food mainly (though there is nasi lemak type of food). After all, NUS/NTU has also upgraded the food stalls, so this may be good.

Well, I like the part that the dish ($3 or 4 ) was hot - both rice and chicken. However, the owner put too much sauce - so it was too salty. I left the last 20% of rice untouched.

Someone pls tell me if there is any yummy food there? In other canteens? The one I went to is at T1.
You better ask him not to add too much sauce?

Cajun Jazz - taste of New Orleans Smile Nov 29, 2010

Categories : Bars/Lounges | Steaks and Grills | Burgers and Sandwiches

Big Easy is a New Orleans themed Jazz Bar. Nice nostalgic jazz sets the atmosphere when you step in. Immediately, you are in another world, as the fragrance of Cajun food permeates your nose. You can try the Gumbo, or Smoked Ribs. The share is so big that you can order 3 for 4 person - which was what we did - and still be full.

The waiter was very enthusiastic, recommending with passion, but also professional to leave us some time to comtemplate and decide. Food wise, the flavour is intense. For those who are not used to Cajun food, be warned that it can be very salty. We drank an estimated 4-5 cups of water each. However, don't be mistakened. It's just so delicious, it's worth the effort. Just get worried about the kidney, that's all.

Nice for hanging out or outings with family*. The only problem: too salty. 8-9 marks for taste. Now, how many marks to deduct for saltiness ?

*May not be suitable for elderly who needs plain rice. The rice that is also Cajun rice - aka salty, and tastes different. Younger ones should have no problem adventuring.

But then, it's Cajun. smile

Western food with friends Smile Nov 29, 2010

Categories : Singaporean | Restaurant

We went there, being attracted by the free flow of salad, reputation for fresh fish and Western Food . We were pleasantly rewarded. The spread of salad was rather wide, stretching over a side of the restaurant and very fresh. Yummy ! I think most of us went for 2 rounds at least. When the main dish and finger food arrived, we were somewhat filled. The white fish was soft and fresh. The spring chicken was fragrant and tender.

I think they can do more with more fish choices, being named F.I.S.H.

It's good and recommended.
