I love the food & decor of this restaurant! The restaurant is fitted with very classic European interiors, and makes one feel welcome & cosy.

However, our otherwise very pleasant experience here was somewhat ruined by a few of the waiters who attended to us due to their attitude. In addition, most of the service staff are foreigners, mainly from India. So when we ordered our food we had difficulty understanding what they were talking about & vice versa. sad

Fortunately, the food that we ordered wiped out the negative feelings we had on their service staff. Here's what we had:

1. Classic eggs Florentine ($14++)

I ordered this and it was really wonderful! The 2 eggs were served on toasted brioche, wilted spinach, serrano ham and hollandse sauce, with a side salad with house dressing. I really love the way my eggs were done. I was really full & satisfied after finishing this set. smile

2. Antoinette breakfast ($20++)

My friend's set was a very worthwhile meal with so many items.tongue She had trouble finishing all the food & kept asking me to help myself with her food. I did sample tasting of her food & enjoyed eating the sausage the most. But in the end I was the one who finished up her hot chocolate as she thought it was too bitter. Luckily I love dark chocolate! ;)

3. Antoinette (ice cream served with creme Chantilly) $9++

Antoinette is actually Earl Grey ice cream with raspberry jelly with milk chocolate shards ($9++). The Earl Grey ice cream flavour was not distinctive enough upon first bite, but as it melted in the mouth, it got stronger. All I can say is, it's divine! smile

Actually we were already full when we finished our main courses, but decided to stuff ourselves with at least 1 dessert since this place is famous for desserts & pastries, and we were glad we did! I will definitely want to try the other desserts and pastries at Antoinette again next time. lol

Great creative ice cream :) Smile Nov 13, 2010

After shopping at Square 2, my friend & I headed to Udders at the small lane next to United Square for a round of yummy ice cream. smile

We ordered a double scoop serving from the Connoisseur range and the Classic range, which costed us $6.70. Each scoop of ice cream is so generous!

The yellow colour ice cream in the picture is their bestseller from the Connoisseur range - Mao Shan Wang durian ice cream. We felt as if we were eating the durian itself! A must-try for durian lovers smile

The other scoop we had was the Snickers Mars Honeycomb Vanilla, also a bestseller, from the Classic range.

They experiment with a lot of new ice cream flavours and customers are always welcome to write down their suggestions too. We thought this is a very good idea hehe.

If you want to avoid the crowd, it is best not to visit the shop in the evenings, as most people tend to visit them for a quick dessert ;)

I was treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch at Marina Mandarin Hotel Aquamarine Restaurant for my birthday. It was really value-for-money as we went for the 1-for-1 deal. Here's a glimpse of some of the food available at the buffet.

Most of the food served were of great quality. I like the Japanese section and desserts section very much. The sushi and sashimi were very fresh & tasty. I asked the chef for a plate of mixed fish sashimi, & he gave me salmon, swordfish & tuna. Frankly I always only dare to eat salmon sashimi but the swordfish & tuna were really fresh & delicious too! I didn't regret asking for a mixed plate.tongue My colleagues helped themselves to a lot of the fresh seafood available too. At the desserts section, the most attractive food to me was the Durian Pudding hehe. It was quality durian! Of course the ice cream too, especially the yam flavour! smile

Some of the food that you may miss include: the rojak, as the sauce was too salty and the youtiao too tough; the char siew puff; and the beef at the first cooked food section which was quite tough.

If you have time for a sumptous buffet lunch, don't hesitate anymore, just come here. smile

Tip Top curry puffs have been around since 1979, and I remember I looked forward to sinking my teeth into the yummy curry puff whenever my parents bought some back home when we visited AMK Central during my growing up days.

To date, its fragrant chicken curry is still what entices me to buy some home if I happen to be at AMK Central. I also like that there is a slice of hard-boiled egg in the puff, & I don't remember other curry puff chains doing that. When I bite into the crust, I find that it also does not give me a too-greasy feel like some other curry puffs in the market.

I had to queue for about 20 minutes on National Day at the stall as it was lined with fans of the famous puff & many were ordering at least 5 (like myself). Nonetheless I feel it's worth the wait when I sunk my teeth into the freshly made curry puff that was piping hot!

Bread worth queuing for! Smile Mar 24, 2012

I was first introduced to Barcook's famous Raisin Cream Cheese bun by my colleague who treated us to this super soft and fluffy bread. So when our office moved to One Raffles Place, many of us were excited that the Barcook Bakery is just right at the basement of our office building!

The queue for its bread at One Raffles Place outlet is usually very long, especially during mornings, lunchtime and evening knock off period. So we usually try to beat the crowd by going down to buy our buns between 3-4pm.

Anyway, this time, I decided not just to buy the signature Raisin Cream Cheese bun ($1.40), but also to try its Ham & Cheese bun ($1.30).

I was glad I made a wise choice in buying the Ham & Cheese bun. Although this is a very common bun sold in many bakeries, the one they sell at Barcook is marvellous! The cheese was melted in such a way that it complemented the ham so well, & not sure if my tastebuds were right, but I thought I tasted a tinge of spiciness in the bun? I could also see the cheese waiting to ooze out as I bit into the bun hehe. It is really a very well done creation of Barcook. Thumbs up! smile
