L'Olivier  Smile Dec 26, 2010

We went to L'Olivier for the first time to celebrate Dad’s birthday. It was really a wonderful dining experience, totally satisfy our craving for good french food.

It is located along amoy street, opposite the Thia Hock Keng temple. For people who have not heard of it, it would be quite hard to locate the restaurant.

The restaurant looks comfortable and classy, with bottles of wine decorating the restaurants. We had bread for a starter, it tasted soft and moist, a great appetiser to kick off a meal.

Next was the mushroom soup, it was smooth and tasty. The mushroom was well grinded for the smooth texture.

For my mains, I had the white cod fish. The fish was very fresh and there was no fish stench at all. Even my mom who doesn’t really like to eat fish agrees so too.

The price was around $50 per person, which was reasonable for a fine dining experience. Overall, it was wonderful.

Bella Pizza  Smile Dec 26, 2010

Located along the riverside of Robertson Quay, Bella Pizza is easily located with its accessible location in the Robertson Quay area.

Most of the diners seem to be Japanese and Europeans, all well dressed for the dinner. In fact, I didn’t really notice many Singaporeans in the restaurant.

We ordered the PIZZA CAPRICCIOSA (FUNGHI, PROSCIUTTO E CARCIOFI) - Pizza with tomato, mozzarella, mushroom, cooked ham and artichokes. It costs $22. The pizza is really tasty and it was baked just right.

Next was dessert CREPE ALLA NUTELLA CON BANANE - Crepe with nutella and mascarpone, served with bananas at $8. The portion was really small which makes us crave for more.

Most of the service staff were Philippinos and half the time they couldn’t really understand what we were talking about.

Berrylite Smile Dec 26, 2010

I always love to have some desserts after a main course. Here Berrylite comes in handy with their yummy yoghurt.

Berrylite is located at UOB Centre, it isn’t usually crowded during the lunch break period as compared to the other chill out places. I like this place for its peaceful ambience.

Together with a colleague, we ordered the original flavour yoghurt with peach toppings. It costs around $5 per cup. I think the price is reasonable for yoghurt.

The flavour is just right, without being too sweet or milky. The after taste of the yoghurt leaves you wanting for more. I will definitely come back for more, and this time round probably order a bugger cup of yoghurt.

Gangnaroo  Smile Dec 26, 2010

Categories : Korean

Gangnaroo is situated in between the rows of pubs and restaurants along Circular Quay. It is easily located as it is at the most outer lane of the circular quay area.

The homely feel of the restaurant makes one feel at home, the usual cozy homely feel kind of Korean restaurant.

A friend brought me to this restaurant and it was my first time here. We ordered the hot plate chicken set for lunch and some little kimchi dishes were served as appetizers. They made very good before meal snacks, some of them include the kimchi, veggies, peanuts and more.

It costs around $15 per person and I think it’s quite worth it for the quality of food and ambience. I enjoyed the meal, it was a great experience coupled with the good company.

Pick & Bite  Smile Dec 26, 2010

Barley water is a healthy choice for a drink as it isn’t sweet. I really love the homemade barley water found in Pick & Bite.

It’s really cheap at the price of $1 per cup. It’s really affordable for the students at SMU. The barley water is fresh and the barley beads are great to chew.

Many students chill and hang out at the cafe as it’s cozy and nice for hangout. They sell other food like mushroom chicken rice, siew mai, egg tarts and other snacks.

Nice place to dine in and its conveniently located just above Bras Basah train station.
