Disappointed lunch OK Apr 11, 2011

Categories : American | Restaurant | Steaks and Grills | Kids-Friendly

Although it’s a lunch time on Sunday, I didn’t see many customers dining inside the restaurant. The waiter led us to the seats in a big “hole”. I do not have appetite to eat so I ordered the soup in the bread bowl. They served my soup quite fast. I felt even less appetite to eat anymore when I saw the presentation of my soup bread bowl. They put the green salad next to the bowl that looks so plain and tasteless, just grass only. The bread bowl is a bit hard for the outer layer. I think I can’t swallow the bread if without the soup. Luckily the soup is not bad. Their other food is normal. But their serving crews are quite friendly.

Bishamon Salad Smile Apr 07, 2011

Categories : Japanese | Ramen

If you craving for salad but it’s not truly only veggies, then you can go to Bishamon to experience a different kind of “salad”. They have Salmon Ramen Salad, Teriyaki Chicken Ramen Salad, Caesar Salad and so on. They don’t just sell salad, they are famous with their ramen. They have too many kind of ramen, like Cha Shu Ramen, Tonkotsu Spicy Miso Ramen and others. For the side dishes, they sell Gyoza and sashimi also.

I chose Teriyaki Chicken Ramen Salad for my lunch. The ramen is nice I could say. They placed the veggies at the bottom and sides then put the ramen on top of it. For the top level, you could see the teriyaki chicken with mayo. What a wonderful combinations. The veggies are very fresh juicy and crunchy. The ramen is chewy and the sauce is taste like the mixture of miso and mayo? I am not sure. Its leaves a sweet taste in my mouth. I feel like ordering another plate! I’ve ordered the Okonomiyaki Gyoza as well. Not bad, the filling is mainly meat. But I think if they make the bottom crust to be more crispy, I think it’s should be nicer.

Wonderful and Cheap Meal  Smile Apr 07, 2011

arina link is quite new for me. I stepped into this restaurant because it’s recommended by my friend. This café do not charge you the additional server charges and tax. The price that you see is the final price that you need to pay. What a surprise. Their price is quite low and affordable. Although they do not charge for extra service charge but their service level is good.

They have a large variety of food but mainly western food. You can find curry chicken, porridge, steak, sandwich, chicken cutlet, and grilled fish in the menu. They do not incur the service charge so you need to approach the counter to make your orders. You can top-up $2 for any dish to make it a set meal that will come with a drink, if I am not mistaken. For premium set meal, you need to top up $4 to get drinks, soup and dessert. The soup is creamy and nice. I love the small garlic bread on the soup, crunchy and garlic smell is wonderful. For the main course, I chose Spicy Arrabiata with Chicken Cutlet. You can choose the non-spicy one as well. The spaghetti is cooked perfectly, it’s spicy and tastier than the spaghetti that I ate in some restaurants. The chicken cutlet is super big, I am shocked when the serving crew served me the food. The portion is far bigger than I expected. For girls, I suggest you to share the meal. For the desert, I chose Rum Ball. Although I couldn’t smell rum inside the cake but I am enjoying the taste. As for the drink, it’s gave me another shock. I never see a café/ restaurant provide a large drink for a set meal. For my set meal, I spent $13.90 nett. I couldn’t believe myself, for this amount of money, I’ve enjoyed a wonderful dinner with a satisfied stomach. For sure, I will visit this café again!

This restaurant is not really easy to find. There is not many taxi go into this hotel as well. If you plan to take taxi go home after the meal, you might need to walk all the out to the main road to waive for taxi.

The environment for this restaurant is quite good. You can see the cook preparing the food for you from your seats. Their food is basically is the combination of Japanese and French cuisine. You can see chopsticks, folk and table knife placed in front of you. A weird combination but it’s special. Their serving crews are friendly. Do not hesitate to ask their recommendation before you order your food.

The food is nice. I’ve ordered the set lunch that came with 3 courses. The Starter is Ratatouille, Endives, Red Frisee Lettuce, Onion Dressing with Mesclun Greens. And for the main course, I chose Grilled Salmon in Filo Roll, Burnt Butter Sauce. The dessert of that day is Macha Pound Cake with Azuki and Lentil Ice Cream and you can choose Coffee or Tea for the drinks. The starter is normal for me. But for the salmon, this is my first experiences that eat it in Filo roll. The crust is so thin and crispy. Basically the crust breaks when you poke it with the folk. I wish I can use my hand to eat it. The salmon is moist and it’s great combination with the burnt butter sauce. I love the Macha Pound Cake with Azuki, it’s a perfect dessert I could say. The Macha(Green Tea) pound cake is not that sweet but you can smell the aroma of the green tea when you putting it into your mouth. Azuki is sweet, if you want the sweeter taste, put more Azuki to your cake bite.

Thai Food Smile Mar 31, 2011

Categories : Thai | Food Court | Brunch

When I am queuing for this food, I can hear the sharp voice of a middle age woman taking orders for this Thai food. She takes the order and immediately collects money from the customer. There are 7 people in front of me, but this woman able to take my order and made me paid my bill. Imagine it, how effective she is. But when she wants to pass the food to the customer that paid a while ago, she asked the customer to pay again. The customer explained. This not just happened to one customer, almost 6/10 of the customer being asked twice after the payment. This is really annoying.

The food is not bad. I’ve ordered the Thai fried rice. The fried rice looks plain but its taste not so bad. I’ve tried their Thai Fried Vermicelli is good. But they put a lot of bean sprouts and it’s more than the amount of the Vermicelli that you can find on the plate.
