Bubbletealicious! Smile Jan 10, 2013

One of the last few stores standing after the bubble tea craze!

Had a craving for bubble tea so i bought them with another friend.

Honey Jasmine Green Tea
& Italian Hazelnut milk tea

Asked for less sugar as it'll probably be extremely sweet with the honey added to the green tea. True enough! still v sweet. HAHA!
Didn't feel like eating the flour "bubbles" so opt for the jelly instead. I like to chew on the bits while drinking the milk tea. Hazelnut added to the bubble tea was a good mix! Love it.

Recommended Dish(es):  hazelnut milk tea

Sirloin steakk! OK Jul 29, 2013   (Related Review)

After my successful tasting of the previous visit. I dragged another friend to accompany me to try the sirloin steak which i was eyeing the previous visit! HEHE! He didn't regret one bit after trying it! lol

So I orderd the sirloin steak this time round (400G), which I obviously couldn't finish! Lucky I had a guy to help me finish my food, otherwise it'll be such a waste! The 50% discount when you dine with a friend was still on when I went back! PHEW. (if I'm not wrong, they have different promotions on different day! So you might want to check with the restaurant before heading down)

The steak was not as good, I asked for medium rare but it almost came out close to raw and I could see the reddish blood parts. The chef must've been too anxious! HAHA! So I asked the waiter to bring it back to cook it a little more and he was very apologetic about it.
It came back almost well-done this time round! OH MY. But some parts was still a little medium rare. I think the chef has to go for steak cooking classes again! By now, I really preferred the salmon more. My side dishes this time round were baked beans, wedges and garden salad. The baked beans were a little different from the canned ones, although it was most probably canned too but the sauce tasted a little better? and the beans felt bigger. Wedges was a little dry and the garden salad was the same.

I was more disappointed this time round and I think i'll stick to the salmon the next time! Still a very nice place to eat nonetheless!

($35.50 before discount)

Spending per head: Approximately $18

After watching many cooking shows online, I was delighted to know that P.S cafe served this Pineapple Meringue Pie!
As you walk into the restaurant, you're greeted with this soft touch of classical music and beautiful flower arrangements jumps out from everywhere. If this is not the life of the high-fliers, I don't know what is. Visited the washroom and I was surprised but this HUGE bouquet of flower arrangement which took up almost 3/4 of the mirror infront of me which I thought was funny. Also, while walking towards our seat, a long row of pretty cakes greeted us and was totally taunting me to try them all!
The place has this really rustic feel to it and during the odd hours, there was hardly anyone there on a weekday and so my company and I had the whole of the second floor to ourselves.

We ordered this Pineapple Meringue Pie served with vanilla ice cream ($14)

The taste didn't really stick with me although you could taste the pineapple really strongly. After recalling how difficult it is to make this meringue, I decided to savour it slowly. Considering the price, I don't think I would want to try this one anymore.
I will definitely want to go back to try their sticky date pudding which the waitress recommended as the favorite of many customers.

Spending per head: Approximately $15

My lovely mother braved the haze to packet lim seng lee's duck rice for the family today! (:
I'm guessing that due to the haze, many chose their health over trying out food which they may never get to try ever again after it closes tomorrow. There were only 2 people queuing before my mom when she went to queue at the line for takeaway. The restaurant was also not extremely packed as some other reviewers' photos had shown. There was still some parking problem due to the secluded area where the shop resides.

Onto the food!

Like many had said, the duck was indeed very soft but it was not really to my liking as maybe I'm too used to the normal texture of duck meat and prefer that now? Nonetheless, the thick gravy that was generously given by the uncle was really delicious!!! There was a strong taste of herbs that immediately hits you and makes you crave for more as it feels really homely (i kept one more packet to add to my rice later on! HAHA!)
Sad to say, I felt that the amount of meat was too little for an amount of $20. My parents also mentioned that for the price, one would usually get more meat. My mom also told us that uncle Lim just roughly grabbed a chuck of meat from his pre-cut stack of duck meat pile so as to serve his customers quickly. Granted his 45 years of experience and maybe as it's boneless meat, half a duck looks way lesser than normal.

Surprisingly, I really like this combination of tofu and taupok! It was a unique mix that I have never seen before and I must say it matched really well! Not sure if it's due to my love for tofu and taupok but I really like it! It cost $6 and was a hit with the family! The sauce was not extremely starchy and was consistent enough as some was absorbed by the taupok itself.

I would most likely drop by (not that i can anymore ):, but on hindsight) to the store as it's not too out of the way for me. Also, I realized that we should have visited the stall before the closing date was reported in the newspaper which caused many to swarm to the place. Perhaps the quality might have suffered a little as the human traffic volume was too high to handle.
Regardless, I'm really glad to have tried this popular eatery before it closes. Now, we need to find another braised duck stall to match up with uncle Lim's cooking!

[food was transferred to our own bowls, hence it's not in the styrofoam box]

Scaly OK Jul 30, 2013

This is one of the restaurant opened under the Soup Restaurant group. The 3 "sister" restaurants are actually situated next to each other in IMM. You get the most expensive one (Soup Restaurant), the average cost one (Pot Luck) and then Café O. You can actually have your 3 meals there too! For breakfast, try the Cafe O for roti prata, etc. for lunch you can frequent the pot luck store which serves a variety of different dishes and then have dinner at Soup Restaurant! Pretty cool concept huh!

So let's start with the review for potluck! this new establishment at imm seems to be a hot favourite as you can see long lines being formed during the lunch/dinner hours.
I believe what attracts most is that they have free flow drinks ($2.80) and free flow rice ($1.50). However, on hindsight, unless you're a really big eater, this may be seen as more expensive than cheap as they discourage sharing of food so if you calculate, you actually have to poslish off 3 bowls of rice before the price is about $0.50 per bowl of rice.
Before ordering, you may want to consider this economical point!

We ordered this curry fish head for $17.90 as it seems to be the best-selling and it's a chef recommendation. They even framed it up and put it as perhaps a permanent promotion item (U.P $23). I smell a marketing gimmick! (which I gladly fell into as the picture looks really enticing!)

This dish came in a hot pot (Extremely hot pot! Please be careful when handling!) and was exactly like the picture being advertised. The aromatic curry hits your nose and you came feel your mouth watering. I wasted no time in piling the curry onto my rice and quickly dug in.
I think the fish should've went through some QC as it was still really scaly, making it a hassle to eat as you have to slowly remove the scales as you eat.
If without the scales, this is definitely a very fantastic dish as the curry was thick enough and the fish was really fresh!

Looking around, I saw many other dishes that were being served out and most if not all, you could see the steam rising from each hot pot! This is definitely one place I'm going back to!
