It's been almost a year and I'm back here at November 8 specially for their waffle which the owner highly boast about! With certain expectation, I was more or less looking forward to it. I could actually smell it before seeing it as there was a strong buttery fragrance lingering along the corridor.
Without much hesitation, I ordered the Thai Milk Tea Waffle ($10.5) and their highly esteemed Latte ($4.5).
First came the latte with a improved Rosetta latte art. Very nicely defined edges and frothed milk. However, it was lacking in body and didn't pack a punch like how it was in the past.
Soon came the waffle. Not very photogenic, but thankfully there was nice brick counter which served as a nice backdrop.
The waffle was disappointing (partly contributed by the expectation). Texture wasn't consistent as some parts were soft and other crispy. More importantly, the waffle didn't taste as good as its aroma.
Ice cream was flat nor creamy.
I don't know when will be my next visit, however, I hope I will regain my confidence in November 8 as how it was during my first few visit.

Revisited Working Title with my IAAF Level 1 course mates recently, which was about a year later from my first visit. Rekindled my liking for this indie and rustic looking cafe which is located along Arab Street of Kampung Glam.

Above this humble and relaxing space is a 5-storey travelers lodge. Right behind the counter/kitchen is this cozy corner where you can chill and get some work done. WiFi is available as well.

During this visit, we had some snacks and dessert: Truffle Hash Browns ($8.9), Salted Caramel Nutella Tart and Churros ($12) which is relatively new on the menu.

I never knew that Churros was deep-fried! It's essentially like Chinese you tiao, only that it's coated with sugar, cinnamon powder and chocolate dip.

Mains, All day breakfast and craft beers are on their menu too! Perfect chill out cafe being it in the day or evening.

Non air-conditioned, but thankfully it was rather cooling that evening.
Menu offered here serves an extensive array of Thai cuisine done in the traditional way. Special attention is given when choosing ingredients for their food, even to the extent of importing Tea leaves from Thailand for their Thai Ice Tea.
Very often Thai Ice Tea ($1.8) serves as a benchmark for the Thai eatery which I visit and the one offered here passed the test! Gao, smooth and had a nice fragrance.
First time trying Deep Fried Kang Kong ($10). Crunchy in texture, it will make it as a fantastic snack!
Green Curry ($8), PhadThai ($6), Chicken Omelete ($8), Spicy Sea Bass in Lemon Soup ($35) and Deep Fried Pork Knuckle ($28) were part of the our orders.
Among the dishes, the Phad Thai was outstanding based on its slightly sweetened and evenly fried.
Fresh Sea Bass was nicely steamed and soaked in the appetizing lemon soup.
However, the pork knuckle was a failure as it was over fried, leaving the meat tough and dry.
Overall, it was an enjoyable dinner, but something just doesn't click with me. Given a choice to dine from my collection of Thai eateries, Spicy Thai - Thai Cafe won't be the first in mind.

Wayne's Chillout cafe, literally a perfect spot to chill and enjoy freshly made ice cream, pizzas, ice cream and waffles while overseeing the sea. All of these can be enjoyed in the evenings as well while you witness the beautiful sunset skies.
With all positivity, there are also some downside. Getting here by personal vehicle is like a mini maze if one is unfamiliar, more so for those by foot and public transport. However, it will be rewarding once you make your way here.
Over here, there are just a handful of mains to select from: Pasta and hand made Pizza.
Ordered a waffle ($7 for waffles only) with 2 scoops ($12.5) which includes flavours from their premium section. Flavours were Raspberry and Sea Salt Caramel.
Never a fan of sorbet, but since it was for sharing, thus raspberry by the ladies.
On the other hand, being a fan of Sea Salt Caramel, I was disappointed by Wayne's. It was too creamy, as though it was made from whipped cream, thus we became jelak real quickly.
Waffles itself was decent, nothing to shout about.
I guess the alfresco and relaxed setting offered at Punggol Settlement did complement what Wayne's Chillout offered.

Converted from an old coffee shop, Sin Lee Foods is very much a cafe that serves Western food fare in the mature Bukit Ho Swee estate. Locating this cafe may be a little challenging for "foreigners" like me. On top of that, situated on higher ground doesn't ease the matter. Perhaps, the nearby Singapore Examination and Assessment Board (SEAB) is a convenient POI.
We ordered three items: The One and Only ($21.9), Smoked Salmon ($18) and Sweet Potato Fries with Salted Egg Yolk ($12).
"The One and Only" is basically a thick slab of fried chicken thigh on a waffle (waffle recipe from The Batter People). Despite the whetting my appetite just by the sight of it, however, its taste just didn't match up with it.
The Smoked Salmon dish was rather pleasing. Base layer of nicely baked and cubed potatoes, layered with a poached egg that was held on by Smoked Salmon and sprinkled with bacon bits.
Lastly, I would consider this another signature dish of Sin Lee Foods, their Sweet Potato Fries with Salted Egg Yolk. Tantalising looking and creative as it was, but it wasn't out of this world tasty.
Didn't try out their coffee, however, the blend used is from Papa Palheta's Throwback blend.
Generally, I love the layout and rugged/run down theme of the cafe. Food tasted fine as well. However, the price would deter me from coming here anytime soon.
