The first of its kind in Singapore, The Cajun Kings serves boiled seafood drowned with mouth-watering flavors of Louisiana and provides a unique dining experience. Get ready to feast with your bare hands in this rustic and laid back eatery as this is the real deal when it comes to "Finger licking good"!
I ordered the Seafood combo ($75) that came with 500g of white Prawn, 250g of clams or mussels, 6 sausages, 1 corn on the cob and selected the sweet potato fries. The sauce that seemed fitting for this seafood platter would be the King's Mix and we went for the spicy level (choice of mild, spicy and extra spicy)!
The King's Mix was with infused with garlic butter, lemon pepper and Cajun spices, indeed a league of its own! For someone (myself) who abstains from most shellfish due to its after taste, but the sauce made whole lot of difference!
Apart from the Seafood, we ordered this: Frog Legs! I know what you are thinking, but it's not chicken wings but legitimate gigantic Butter Fried Frog Legs!
Overall, this messy experience is pretty refreshing from the usual fine-dining decorum. Although it did burn a hole in our pockets, but definitely worth the trip and an option future special celebrations!

Tucked at the corner of Empress Road Market & Food Centre and what attracted me was the tray of cooked plump wantons! On the other hand, having an extensive menu (for a noodle stall) implies that they are jack of all trades but master of none. Nevertheless, I gave it a shot!
Noodles were springy and al dente. Such is life's simple pleasure. Char siew was tender, with hint of sweetness and charred fragrance, however, thicker slices wouldn't harm. Completing this wonderful plate of delicacy was the chunky wanton!
During my next visit, I will be trying out their dumpling noodles and perhaps Ipoh Hor Fun as well!

Katong Laksa...hmm...the battle is still on till today (but cordially)! So who is the real mastermind behind "Katong Laksa" - 328 Katong Laksa, Roxy Laksa, Junggut Laksa or Marine Parade Laksa??? To spare the you the confusion, Junggut Laksa (related to Roxy Laksa) is the real original Katong Laksa and was previously known as Marine Parade Laksa.
Here I am, at the oldest laksa in Katong: Janggut Laksa - The OrginalKatong Laksa!
Being a fan of coconut milk based food, Laksa is definitely top of the list. While it is essential, having the proportion is key! I'm neither a chef nor one who experiments with cooking, but the secret to a good bowl of gravy lies in the Rempah (Spice Paste) and I believe fresh ingredients are essential.
Similar to coaching (I'm a sprints & strength coach if you have not realized), there are many good training methodology and techniques out there, but introducing too many at the wrong time and amount can lead to adverse outcomes. In other words, this explains Janggut Laksa's popularity and longstanding in this business.
Truly legendary and satisfying!

Partnering with his wife, Joe decided to have his own Thai eatery after working at Parkway Thai Restaurant for 6 years. Being a chef and Thai himself, he sure knows what it takes to create authentic Thai cuisine that captures the hearts of Singaporeans. This hidden gem is located along the road side right opposite Alexandra Hospital.
The food here were undoubtedly delicious, however, were a little 'heavy' compared to else where. For instance, the green curry was thicker, the basil flavour was overpowering for the basil leaf pork and Tom Yam had too much of a kick. Basically, if the chef could hold back 10% of intensity, I would had enjoyed it thoroughly!

Price and portion were reasonable. So for those who prefers their Thai food to be heavy and intense in flavour, Joe's Kitchen is for you!

Heartiest congratulations to Brawn and Brains! After 2 years, they have finally expanded their sitting capacity and menu! Occupant of the unit facing Guillemard Road, the cafe now accommodates approximately 40 pax and includes an area for customers to hang around while waiting for their cup of boosters. On top of that, Brawn and Brains has upgraded to two bigger and meaner La Marzocco machines to serve you better and faster! Reminisce of Brawn and Brains 1.0 HERE.
Matching up with market rates, Latte are now $4.5 and Iced Latte $5. That being said, their coffee still packs a huge punch and is worth every single penny!
Truly inspirational! From a humble unit to the where they are now, I'm definitely looking forward to the day when they are fully operational, which includes their new kitchen extension!
