Head to Chili's Grill & Bar for a cheaper and smaller portion of "Lunch Break", available Monday - Friday from 11am - 4pm.

Lunch Break Combo comes with fries, soup or salad and half portion sandwiches / Bites / Quesadillas.
Quesadillas

Quesadillas

We got the Quesadillas combo at $11.

The soup was really nice and thick with potatoes and cheese. Although a small bowl, it is actually quite filling.

The main dish is the toasted tortillas sandwiched with Fajita-marinated chicken, onions and cheese. Wasn't really impressed with the tortillas, but it goes well with the sour cream and pico de gallo (salsa).

Do note that the portion for the lunch deal is almost half the usual portion served. Which is good for Asians as we don't really have much opportunity to have some stomach space left for desserts after a typical American meal.

Craving for some fish soup? Be prepared to queue for 30 minutes if you want to have it during peak hours as there will be more than 10 persons queuing in front of you.

Whenever we want to have the fish soup, we will try to go early. Previously, 15 minutes earlier will be enough, but recently, we have to go at least 30 minutes earlier in order to avoid the long queue. Thinking of going later instead? Do note that the queue will still be there around 2pm, but shorter. Do consider switching to the nice prawn noodles stall just besides it if the queue is just too long.

The stall owner will start to cook the fish soup only after you have placed your order, which is one of the reasons for the long queue and good quality as well. Besides the usual noodles, thick or thin Mee hoon, you can also try the thin rice vermicelli (mian xian) or fried yee mien.

They offered fresh and fried fish slice. The fried fish are nicely fried with substantial chunk of fish meat within the crisply fried coating. The soup is flavourful that you don't really need any soy sauce, just a few slices of the chilli to add spiciness to your fish soup.

We will go for fish soup whenever we feel guilty of gluttony as fish soup is always associated with healthy food - light, fresh fish full of omega 3. But one of the reasons why this fish soup is so flavourful is the sinful deep fried scrambled egg. The oil and fluffy fried egg up the flavour of the fish soup while reducing the healthy level of the dish. But one thing for sure, no unhealthy MSG added like other fish soup stalls. We are happy to continue to assume that fish soups are suppose to be healthy and have it at least once per week lol

Service is what you will expect in a normal coffee shop. At least the boss and workers does not get impatient or start to scream at people just because their business is doing well.

Try the home made barley from the drink stall within the same coffee shop which is thick and nice.

After the relocation of the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, two Nasi Briyani stalls shifted to Tanjong Pagar Complex. We have tried both and find that this is better but a little more expensive as well.

We confirmed that this store is the famous Nasi Briyani stall at Tanjong Pagar Railway station after some search on the Internet. Not too much of a "regret" that I did not join my colleagues for a gourmet trip to Tanjong Pagar Railway Station just before it's relocation, the stall had shifted nearer to us now

They offer Chicken, Mutton and Fish Briyani at $6, a bit expensive compared to the other food available in TPC. It comes as a set with some achar, yogurt vegetables and diluted curry. Didn’t really like the diluted curry but prefer the rich and stronger curry that comes with the basmati rice and chicken. The basmati rice grains were much longer than the usual we had and were infused with curry aroma. To make the $6 worth, I will usually ask for the much tender chicken thigh instead of chicken breast. You can also request for more of the thicker version of the curry if you like your briyani to be sinfully filled with thick spicy curry. Despite the higher price, there is usually queue at the stall for a nice yummy plate of biryani.

It is a stall in one of the Tanjong Pagar Complex coffee shops, next to the famous cze char stall. This coffee shop is crowded during lunch hours, either come early or you can just order the briyani and take a seat at the coffee shop next door, just remember to order a drink from the coffee shop that you are seated.

Service was prompt and you can actually call to reserve the number of briyani required to avoid disappointment.

Dim Sum @ Crystal Jade My Bread Smile Jun 23, 2012

Categories : Singaporean | Bakery | Kids-Friendly

The sure bet at Crystal Jade My Bread would be their Chinese Dim Sum. Their bread are quite ok as well, especially the BBQ Pork Pineapple bun, but their speciality are still in Cantonese Dim Sum.

Snow white fluffy steamed Char Siew Pau (BBQ bun) is yummy. The soft fluffy pau almost melt in your mouth, the standard is as good as some of the restaurant. Do take it while hot before it turn soggy.

Hong kong BBQ pork pastry is another favourite of mine. The pastry was filled with rich honey BBQ pork which is really satisfying. Not too sweet and you can taste small chunks of pork as well.

The shop front was kind of small, you gotta squeeze your way through the narrow elongated store to get your bread and pay for it. Payment service was prompt.

Milk Tea @ GongCha Smile Jun 22, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

We saw a few young ladies with Gong Cha in their hands while shopping at Novena Square 2 and decided to get one for ourselves. We walked through the 4 storeys but can't seems to locate the Gong Cha store. Finally we managed to locate it outside the building, level 1, next to the taxi stand.

Waiting time was really short, we get our milk tea almost immediately. Perhaps the number of customers were not as many as other outlets due to their secluded location.

The milk tea with pearls was good, nice tea fragrant. However, there were a number of ice lumps which affected the drink texture.
