Dinner @ Box n Sticks OK Jan 23, 2012

Well, the last time i wanted to try this restaurant ended up disappointed, reason because they do not open on Sunday! my bad! that i did not call the restaurant to check or check their website. but wonder why they choose sunday to rest isnt sunday a good day to earn more

anyway, walked from Bugis MRT, along the way you will cut through a few streets like Haji Lane and etc. it's about 15min walk from the mrt to the restaurant.

It's a friday evening, pretty quiet in the restaurant, only about 4-5 tables are occupied at this dinner time. maybe is because of their location, quite off the crowded area... so that's why it is so quiet, but good for those people who like to chill with friends in peace.

Anyway i ordered something not found in their house menu but their new introduced dish Chilli Crab Pasta (tasted more like tomatoes sauce than chilli crab sauce, i wish it was more spicy so that i can feel like i am really eating the chilli crab, the pasta is topped with a full piece of soft shell crab, crab is crispy and tasty, $12.80 nett) can try for those who find it unique.

Braised Pork Belly with Furikake Onigiri (Rice ball with fish flakes) additional $2 to change the plain rice ball to the rice ball with fish flakes, tasted really nice with or without the dark sauce of the pork belly. the sauce is kinda quite sweet for me, was also wondering why the pork belly doesnt have much of fats which it should. anyway this dish is quite filling because of the two rice ball (fish flakes rice ball must try, the pork belly not necessary)

Bacon Mochi (japanese sticky rice cake is sticky and not so chewy as i tot it should be, quite bland too, it taste better when i try dipping it into the dark sweet sauce of the braised pork belly. not a must try.

when comes to dessert, i wanted to try their Matcha Tiramisu because normally we only have the coffee taste de, but sadly they dun have it that day. so disappointed, i ended up did not order any dessert and left.

Dinner @ TWG Takashimaya OK Jan 21, 2012
Categories : English | European | Café | High Tea | Desserts and Cakes

A Rainy Evening... Dropped by TWG @ Takashimaya Department Store on level two.

Emperor Rose Tea (a pot of such premium will cost around $15, great fragrance and nice, but still a little expensive for a pot of tea)

Egg Benedict (Not bad, but for the amount you paid, you get only a slice of salmon each under each poached egg...)

Seared Matcha Salmon (quite good, fresh salmon, visual display is good too)

After all, personally i think that it is not worth paying so much for the food but for the nice environment and ambiance) a great place for Tai Tai only...

Dessert @ Brunetti OK Jan 21, 2012

Categories : Italian | Bakery | Desserts and Cakes | Ice Cream and Gelato | Pasta

15-20min walk from Orchard MRT to Tanglin Mall.

from far, the restaurant/cafe will caught your attention with its black and white tiles of the Houndstooth prints... the glass panel fridge clearly displays all the cakes available and gelato too!

good thing about their cakes/pastries, they come in two serving size, they have it in miniature and the regular size but not all of them.

service crew @ the cakes/pastries counter acts very quickly, just like they know what they are doing... but customer are just flocking in from every side of the counter to order, to a certain extend you wouldnt know who is in queue.

Piemontese (Halzelnut Cream Tart)

Cafe Latte (Perfect cup of latte)

San Remo (Good), Chocolate Eclair (Good), Lemon Tart (Not good)

Pear Cheesecake Tart (Cheese was rich, can't really taste the pear, the Tart is too hard)
Eclair is good!

From woodlands took a train to Bishan, then switch to Circle Line and take towards Paya Lebar MRT and from the bus stop nearby took one of the public bus to reach the bus stop near Smiths Authentic British Fish & Chips.

moment you step into the store, the deep fried oily smell will start smoke you, i didnt want to smell like a fish & chip after this meal so i told my friend we better chop alfresco seats.

it's a self-service concept, so you order and pay and wait for your food. while we are deciding what fish we want to eat (there is battered chicken chop too), i notice the kitchen crew is fooling around inside the counter and didn't seems bother that there is customers around.

His Dory Fish & Chips - compare to the Chicken, fish is less oily, and the edges are pretty crispy. it will be ok if we have order beer... then the fries(chips) are kinda soggy and tasteless, like it have been there for very long...

Battered Chicken & Chips - $10 for a chicken deep fried chicken drum stick totally not worth, i rather walk to next door and get a deep fried drumstick from Punggol Nasi Lemak, =x
Just chicken.... and it's very oily

Lunch @ Triple Three OK Jan 21, 2012

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Hotel | Buffet

got Groupon coupon deal, anyway having trouble calling their reservation hotline, they seems like never pick up my call, was so frustrated to the extend that i have go down personally to make reservation myself. When i was there to make the reservation (one month ago), i confronted them of their reservation hotline, and they say the line is working.. and i try calling their hotline in front of them and no one picks up. LIARs.

Creamy Prawn Penne Pasta (Prawn is very fresh and Q~~~)

Salmon Sashimi (Fresh), Korean Kimchi (So-so, not crunchy enough)

their famous Roasted Duck (Yummy, taste even better with the sweet clear sauce)

French Long Bean (Love it), Japanese Takoyaki Ball (not bad, it's not often you see international buffet serves these), and German Sausage (Nice, chewy)

Roasted Turkey with Cranberry sauce (available during x'mas season)

Indian Curry and mutton with Roti Prata

Fresh Salad with Thousand Island Dressing (wide range of vegetables and salad dressing available at their salad bar.

All sort of desserts from their dessert bar (overall are quite nice)

Picture not shown.
Japanese Tori Karaage with Wedges

So sorry did not review their seafood spreads, since i am not very into seafood. One thing about their Teppanyaki counter is that you need to stand there and queue for it for like 10-15mins just to have the choice of squids or beef slice with beansprout...

reason i will go there if only there is groupon sale again. but remember to read the terms and conditions since the the coupon is excluding the service charges and GST!

It will be good to reserve the seat along the window panel so that you can look down to the orchard road.
