Xiao Long Bao Okay Only... OK Dec 22, 2010
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Dim Sum

First time dining at this new "Ding Tai Fung" at Nex serangoon and quite diappointed with their xiao long bao. I find their taste okay only, not as nice as other outlets. Maybe the chef is new and just employed to this new outlet. This is the only time that I'm not enjoying my xiao long bao. Just they can't bring out the taste and meat of the tang bao at this restaurant. Maybe I shall give it a miss and stick back to my usual outlets.
If you bring kids, they have utensils specially cater for the kids. Maybe they are worried kids might broke their ceramic utensils and cut themselves.

Got quite good lunch set OK Dec 21, 2010

Categories : Taiwanese | Restaurant | Noodles | Rice | Kids-Friendly

I was meeting up with a friend at nex and decided to go for the lunch sets available at Lai Lai Casual Dining because the pictures were so tempting. I ordered the set with stew beef and some side dishes. It came with rice and a drink. The veggies was nice, not overcooked and very fresh. Not overly salty. However, the beef stew was over spiced with pepper...oh I hate pepper so in the end I had to pick the beef out from the stew. So rice with out gravy....a bit dry. But the other items were good so I will still patronize it for the other items.

HK style bo luo bao OK Dec 21, 2010
Categories : Singaporean | Bakery | Brunch

I was looking to buy a bread or something like that when I noticed that Bake Inc sells Hong Kong Style Bo Luo Bao. The appearance was very nice and looks very tempting so decided to get one. The taste was average only. Not very fluffy and it was a bit tough or hard and quite tasteless except for the top crust layer that was more sweet. I had tried those from crystal jade bakery and I must say that personally crystal jade's ones are much better.

Wan Ton Mee OK Dec 16, 2010   (Related Review)

Categories : Hainanese | Food Court | Chicken Rice

The "Wan Ton Mee" I bought that day was abit dry and got the noodles taste - we called this "the gan mei" in cantonese. Maybe they didn't change the water for cooking the noodles. It wasn't like that in the morning or afternoon. It comes with three wantons, but I must said the chai siew and vegetables they gave is generous. So my advice is to avoid buying the noodles for dinner, but highly recommended for breakfast or lunch.

Sakura  OK Dec 16, 2010
Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Brunch | Kids-Friendly

Decided to have noodles for dinner and try out Sakura. The noodles is the deep fried type as in chinese restaurant. For the noodles, its nice and crispy. They also gave alot of ingredients like vegetables, sotong, slices of fish and fishcakes. I can say their amount was generous but the gravy of the noodles fall short of my expectations. The cook put in alot of pepper and Im kind of allergie to pepper and their taste. If there was no pepper or little pepper in the gravy, it would make a wonderful meal for me sad(
