And at Menya Musashi, you get to choose from 3 choices of soup base: White, Black or Red.
I prefer my ramen in pork bone broth and did I mention I am a big fan of thick soup base? Don't be fooled by the broth which looks soupy here! It's actually quite thick and I really like it. Not only did the broth taste nice, the cha shu slices were tender and they literally melt in your mouth. Totally orgasmic! Noodles were firm and chewy too.
What's a good bowl of ramen without ajitsuki tamago!? The egg yolk was not as runny as I had expected it to be, but it was still quite good. There you have it, a big bowl of comfort food on a rainy day. Perfect.
Before I could take a proper and unmessy picture, my friend already started on his ramen. I guess that's how good his ramen was!
There is just something very different (in a good way) about their gyozas that I simply cannot fathom. We felt that the skin of the gyozas are thinner than the other gyozas we tried before, and the fillings are much different too.
Service wise, the staff were really enthusiastic about refilling our cups of water even though we just took a few sips. And in case some of you are unaware, it is acceptable and considered polite to slurp your noodles in the Japanese culture. So don't be shy, go ahead and slurp your ramen!
