My friend recommended this place and she eats there at least twice a month.

Soup base we had Mala and herbal chicken.

I am not a mala fan but it was still nice as my friends did requested that its made less spicy so I could have more.

I adore the herbal chicken soup totally.

Menu was, I was eating pork belly throughout and some vege. Was disappointed that my favourite beef meat was awful. It did not taste fresh and it was tough as well.

The rest of the items were pretty standard.

There were also certain items we ordered and was out of stock. worst thing was that I had to ask for it then I realised it was out of stock.

I must give credit that they included dessert in their buffet menu which I thought wasn't common. Although out of the 5 desserts listed only 2 were available. The longan soup was refreshingy good when served chilled.

Cakes! OK Jul 04, 2013

I am a dessert person - I love all cakes! Passed by Pine Garden and decided to buy 2 of their cakes to try.

First we tried the Pulut Hitam Cake. I love the dessert pulut hitam and wondered how it will taste like on a piece of cake. It was lovely, not overly sweet, sponge cake that accompanied the pulut hitam was soft and moist.

Next we tried their Triple Chocolate Cake. This one got me kind of disappointed. I was hoping for a rich chocolate cake because it's triple chocolate. But end up it was dry and not chocolaty at all.

Affordable French Food OK Jul 04, 2013

Learnt about a new french food restaurant that do not charge exorbitant prices for quality food. Head over there to just try it even though it's a little out of the way.

We ordered crispy fish with lime sauce. It was basically 2 pieces of fish fried and served with some vegetables and lime sauce. It was pretty tasty except that the sauce in the dish was too little. The portion of their food wasn't very big either. But you cannot expect too much because they charge $12 and to be in that restaurant setting. I suppose it's pretty reasonable.

We also had the rib eye steak. It was pretty unique, the sauce had this burnt taste which I have not tried anywhere else. Quite interesting.

For dessert, we ordered apple cobbler. Again the portion seemed so sad. It was served with a scoop of ice cream. Quite tasty just a pity the portion is really small.

overpriced food and drink OK Jul 04, 2013

Was looking for a chill out joint in customs house and we went to the first shop that we see.
They did not allow us to take the seat that was by the river claiming that it was reserved.

We ordered their classic Mojito that cost $24. I was told that this drink is very nice by a friend. However turned out that the unique part is to me just the big mug that holds the drink. It's pretty ordinary tasting mojito that I can find everywhere.

We ordered also a beef steak cube with red wine sauce to pair with the drink.
It was pretty ok. Nothing special. rather tender.

The service and ambience was ok. The only thing is the pricing is pretty steep, the quality vs the pricing makes me feel it's not worth it.

Happy that they have 1 for 1 for all beers. So we ordered a strawberry lime cider.
It was sweet and tasty. It would be perfect for ladies with sweet tooth.

My main course was roasted chicken with truffle butter sauce. I like that it was roasted just right, not overcooked. Chicken was tender. I am surprised that they serve the meat with salad and whip potato. Because I ordered chicken and did not expect them to serve it complete with sides.
The only disappointment was the truffle taste was not strong at all. Overall this dish was good.

For dessert, we ordered hazelnut praline. It was very rich, smooth and nice.

We also ordered the rainbow cake, this was not as good. It was just pretty but the taste was bland and just a very ordinary sponge cake.
