one of the best thai food places Smile Jun 06, 2013

My friends and I have become frequent customers of Ah Loy Thai as we absolutely love their food. It is one of the best thai food restaurants I have come across, at affordable prices and great servings of food. The butter calamari is a must-order everytime I visit Ah Loy Thai - very addictive and well marinated squid rings which are deep fried till crispy. Tried the garlic chicken this time round - was also good, spices went well with the fried chicken, and it was not too salty.

I have tried their shepherd's/seafood pie quite a long time ago, and I recently realized that it is not on their online menu anymore (surprising because it was quite popular before). I hope they do still serve the dish as it is very delicious. Love the mashed potato baked till golden brown with some crispy crumbs on the top layer. Serving of seafood was also rather generous. Also loved the gravy within the pie.

Good for desserts Smile May 04, 2013

I have always liked to come to Food for Thought for tea time whenever i'm in the area. Avoid the busy lunch and dinner hours, and you'll have a comfortable and conducive place to have a chat with friends. I have always wanted to try the Warm Baked Cheese & Brownie Fudge after reading about it. It comes with vanilla ice cream drizzled with raspberry sauce - there was nothing special about this though. The cheese and brownie fudge is a good combination, and it doesn't taste too "jelat" and I managed to finish the whole thing.

Better than Canele Smile Apr 19, 2013

One of the better cake shops with a wide variety of flavours; they constantly come up with new creations as well, which is great for regular patrons like myself. Green tea cheesecake is good, rich in taste of cheese, but not overly so that one would find it too "jelat" after a few mouthfuls. Passionfruit mango cheesecake is one of the first original flavours, and worth a try.

Awesome Butter Calamari Smile Apr 18, 2013

Was very glad that they decided to open a new outlet in the East. I have become a fan of ah loy thai ever since I've tried the branch at Shaw towers. Absolutely love the butter calamari. Tried the pineapple rice, was average; phad thai was average as well. They do not charge service charge, hence it is affordable and reasonably priced. The tampines outlet is rather small, so do go early during peak hours to queue.
