This place has been at Downtown east for quite a long period of time, and it sells toasts, some quick bites, and also has various teas and bubble teas. I was thirsty and so decided to try this milk shake advertised, although I didn't know what it consisted of before I ordered. Tastes a little like green bean, and it wasn't very sweet, was powdery and healthy tasting, quite a nice drink at $1.50.

Mediocre Thai Food OK Oct 06, 2013

My friend wanted to try Jane Thai Food and we dropped by for dinner. We decided on the garlic pork - thin tiny slices of pork fried with garlic topped on it - portion was small but the meat was alright, particularly liked the garlic; however, I would prefer that from The Basil Inn as the pork is tastier. We also had the grilled squid - nothing special and it's your typical bbq squid (took extremely long for them to serve this dish).

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Dinner)

Otah OK Oct 06, 2013

While waiting at The Basil Inn for our food, we were so hungry we decided to get some otah from the stall next to it (we notice many others doing the same). The otah was warm and quite alright, wasn't spicy but I preferred it that way. The size of otah was average as well, not the big ones where fish meat is distinct. The otah here wasn't too salty, but couldn't quite taste the fish meat.

Thai Food OK Oct 06, 2013

I have always wanted to try The Basil Inn as I've heard that they have good thai food. It seems like they expanded, and the small kitchen is unable to cope with the never ending crowd. We were there on a sunday night and saw many customers complaining about the waiting time for their food. We waited for more than 20 mins as well. I tried their prawn cakes ($6) - well breaded and fried, good as a starter but is a little oily. The kangkong was very spicy (do request for less spicy), and I think priced at around $7. We also tried their honey chicken and garlic pork, which were both good and not overly salty or oily, but the portions were quite little. Overall quite decent thai food.

Zi Char OK Oct 06, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Hawker Centre | Zi Char

This place has a variety of zi char dishes. I tried their tofu with prawns, mushrooms and vegetables, their tofu comes in a large slab, and is quite soft but not the best i've tried; a pleasant dish though and not too oily. I also had their vegetables with 3 kinds of eggs - the broth was disappointing and not as flavourful as many others I have tried before, and it's quite diluted as well.

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Lunch)
