Nice Ramen and Gyoza! OK Nov 15, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Ramen

It's a cold rainy day so we were looking for something warm to eat when we came across this Japanese restaurant located on the first floor of Funan the IT Mall. As we all like Japanese cuisine, we went in. The place was dim because of the dark wood in the entire place - tables, walls, chairs, etc. Posters of Sapporo and Japanese writings decorated the small restaurant, so it gave me quite a cozy feeling.
Ramen

Ramen

Chashu Ramen. As I always order serial number 1 on the menu, this was what I settled for. The soup was quite salty and was only lukewarm, not that I like it burning hot, but at least there should be some smoke floating from the bowl of ramen. The Chashu was not big enough to be presentable and it showed a lack of sincerity in cooking and/or restaurant management. It was also quite bland in taste or maybe the soup was too salty.

The saving graces were the half egg and the ramen noodles. The egg was cooked just right!

The noodles were springy and fun but easy to chew!
Gyoza

Gyoza

Gyoza. We ordered a plate for share. It was not juicy, so it's rather dry. The sauce also didn't really bring out the meat flavour. I love gyozas, so this was quite a disappointment.
Unagi Don

Unagi Don

Unagi Don. One of my friends ordered this rice bowl. It was so small I was shocked. However, my friend said that it tasted quite alright.

Maybe someday, I shall go back and try other dishes and see if there's any improvements.

Mazui Christmas Eve Dinner OK Nov 14, 2013

Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Halal

I think it was our entire group's first time having actual dinner at Secret Recipe. I have previously (years ago) tried their cheesecakes and I think they're really good!

We each ordered a different main course and it took quite a long while to arrive.

I had this Chicken Lasagna which was one of the cheapest main courses on the menu. The dough tasted uncooked and the meat sauce was tasteless. It was so unexpectedly disappointing. Apparently, it is so bad that they even took it off their latest menu, gosh!

We tried each others' main courses and we regretted having our dinner there.

For my side order, I had Pumpkin Soup ($4.90). I still think this is the best item on their entire menu. It's an intriguing soup because it looks and tastes like curry but it's actually pumpkin soup. LOL.

Both items cost me $15.70. Not worth it.

Well, overall, please only come here for the cakes and soups and only if you can endure the bad service and rowdy crowd.

Nostalgic Chicken Chop OK Sep 16, 2013
Categories : Coffeeshop

Went for late dinner and my friend ordered Chicken Chop for me. This stall has been there since forever and there is always a long queue. So, the wait was a bit long that night, too.

When it finally arrived, I was a bit disappointed. It seems that the portion will get smaller and smaller as the years go by.

Luckily, the taste is still good. The chicken is hot and and juicy. The skin is crispy at the edge and sweet on the surface. I really love that. I hope the portion returns to normal the next time I go to this stall as it's one of my favourite places to eat at during secondary school days!

Small Crayfish -_-" OK Aug 07, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Ramen | Brunch | Kids-Friendly

Decided to have a quick dinner at Ajisen because our movie was about to start, however, the serving time was quite long. Luckily, that didn't make us late for the movie.

Anyway, when the Crayfish Ramen was served, I was a bit unpleasantly surprised. The crayfish was so small. I've always had this dish in Compass Point and other branches but it looked like AMK Hub is a little different.

Anyway, the taste was the same, so that's fine. It's still my favourite ramen from Ajisen though not my favourite ramen joint throughout Singapore.

I loved the gyoza though. They're crispy on the outside, the skin did not tear as soon as you grab them with chopsticks, the meat and vegetable mix inside was juicy and not too salty!

$8.80 for a bento at the foodcourt in Marina Bay Sands Shoppe. The only place where one can actually afford food.

As it was the STGCC day, it was super crowded but we managed to secure a 4-seater luckily.

This set was the chicken and shishamo set, one of the cheapest items on their menu. I chose it because it looked the best out of all items.

The teriyaki chicken was a disaster as it's so hard!! The teriyaki sauce was nice but.. you know.

Luckily, the shishamo saved my lunch. It's crispy and meaty despite its looks. It wasn't too salty as well, marinated just nice.

The salad was passable. The miso soup was okay as well, but maybe a tad too salty.
