Fried noodles Smile Jun 08, 2013

I like Putien because it serves up quite decent Heng Hwa cuisine. The service here deserves mention. Our server was attentive and made sure that our tea and waters were constantly filled up. The fried noodles that we ordered was delicious. The prawns were very fresh and the taste of the noodles really shone out with a healthy mixture of seaweed and other seafood ingredients like clams. Will certainly be back.

peking duck OK Jun 08, 2013

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Restaurant

If you like roasted Peking duck, then you can try Spring Court's peking duck. This one was fantastically good, and especially value for money for its price. The duck meat was roasted just nice which means that the skin of the duck was superbly crispy. The sweet sauce complemented the crispy duck skin which made this an extremely sinful meal to be had. Service was prompt and attentive.

grilled squid OK Jun 07, 2013

Categories : Japanese

If squid is not fresh, it becomes extremely tough and hard to eat. I tried the grilled squid at Nakjima Suisan Grilled Fish and I liked it because it was fresh and the grill was done just right. The squid came out perfect, with the temperature and the toughness just right. One bite and you are in squiddy heaven. The grill sauce itself is sweet and extremely savoury, complementing the grilled squid very well.

omelette OK Jun 07, 2013

An offshoot of the famous Awfully Chocolate chain, Loola's serves up standard brunch items and desserts. I tried the omelette and I found it normal. There is cheese bits scattered at the top. The omelette itself was sufficiently fluffy although the toast could have been warmer and crunchier. The service however was excellent with the servers prompt to refill the drinks. The dessert, some kind of chocolate tart thingy, was fantastic but rather expensive..

standard breakfast fare OK Jun 06, 2013

I think many Singaporeans are in love with brunch and western breakfasts, evidenced by the crowds at Cafe Epicurious. I think Cafe Epicurious serves up pretty decent breakfast fare, albeit not exceptionally good to warrant a special visit. The sauteed mushrooms were my personal favourite. The scrambled eggs were done quite well, with it retaining a somewhat fluffy texture. The bacons were also acceptable.
