fish and chips OK May 05, 2013

I think fish and chips has an endearing quality combining what I like: fish and fries. The fish and chips served at Little Diner was acceptable. The fish itself was sufficiently crispy although I would have liked the batter to be less of the flour and more of the marinade. The fries itself was fried to a golden brown and was not the normal type of fries usually served outside. Instead they seem to be made from a special type of potato.

Beef kway teow OK May 05, 2013

If you like beef kway teow, then I recommend a visit to Prince Coffee House. Formerly situated at Coronation Plaza, Prince Coffee House shifted to a more spacious place but this has less of a old-school atmosphere. The food itself remains not too bad. The beef kway teow has lots of wok-hei and the beef itself was the fatty bits of it which made chewing a little hard.

Otah OK May 05, 2013

Old School's delight is a pleasant place to be if you want to reminisce about Singaporean food and your childhood experiences. As for the food, it is acceptable but not exceptional. I ordered a piece of mackerel otah. This was not overly spicy but the otah paste itself was not outstanding. There was not much mackerel taste in it and the otah came across as a tad too oily.

rosti Smile May 04, 2013

Ahhhhhh, I love rostis. What's there not to like? Crispy potatoes and tasty meat within them. I tried Steak Republic's rosti and I found it really value for money compared to places like Marche. The rosti itself was good because there was generous bits of meat and grated potatoes. This one was pan fried and very crispy. I also liked the sausages. This is certainly a must try.

Truffle fries OK May 04, 2013

Truffle fries seem to be a craze amongst Singaporeans foodies. My friend recommended P.S. Cafe's truffle fries so I tried it for myself. The verdict? Excellent. The fries were fantastically crispy and not the least soggy. It also did not taste too oily. This is a major plus point. As for the truffles itself, they were rather generous with the truffles (for its price, it better be) and the taste complemented the crispy fries well.
