After a short hike with my colleagues at the Changi Point Coastal Walk on a Friday morning when we didn't need to report for work, we decided to walk over to The Coastal Settlement for an early lunch at around 11am despite having a heavy breakfast. We were one of the first few customers to arrive at the restaurant. I had wanted to come to this place quite some time ago but it was difficult to make a reservation during weekend nights. I was glad that I finally got to see this place!

As we reached the gate, we were surprised that the area next to the valet service counter was very messy, like a mini warehouse, to put all the "junk". Not too sure it was done deliberately?

The whole place was very big. As it was still drizzling, we decided to get our seats indoor.
The indoor decor was really very interesting. You could find many old types of furniture here. There were also sofa seats, high stools, low stools.. just choose wherever you like! (Provided the restaurant is not crowded). In fact, we had a change of seat after we finished our mains. My friend just asked the staff whether we could change our seats as we wanted a different view. The staff said no problem and thus, we got cosy seats to enjoy our desserts. smile

This was my cup of Flat White.

We ordered truffle fries to share. The fries were very crispy and addictive, although a bit too salty.

Half and Half Pizza - One half was Prosciutto & Arugula and the other half was Margherita. The pizza was good although I still prefer Skinny Pizza. The crust was very thin and too crispy until it was quite difficult to cut. In the end, we just tore if off with our hands.

Waffles!

I decided to serve my friends waffles since I was the one who was dying to have it but couldn't possibly finished the whole plate by myself. The staff gave us 5 small plates as there were 5 of us and the portion was big, good for sharing.

It was a great day unwinding with my friends here and we spent close to 3 hours at the restaurant. Love the ambience and will definitely like to come again, maybe during the night with hubby, smile

My colleague suggested going to Pizzeria Mozza for dinner after our trip to the ArtScience Museum. Initially, the rest of us were quite skeptical as we thought he was joking, to dine at a celebrity chef restaurant at Marina Bay Sands. However, it was for real. We then thought, since it was our pay day, why not gave it a try? smile

The restaurant was very crowded but luckily, there was no queue forming yet. The environment was quite dim but very vibrant. Compared to the high class sister restaurant next door, Osteria Mozza, this restaurant is more casual. We felt very relaxed and comfortable in there. Their table mats were very interesting, all having different designs, some with quizzes, for you to ponder before your meal is served. Many of the words in the menu were in Italian, and we couldn't quite understand. We asked the staff to translate and explain to us the names. They were very willing to help us and always served us with a smile. At first, we were attracted by an item in the menu, ie fried pig's ear and we actually ordered that. unfortunately, the item was not available.

Since this restaurant's specialty is their pizzas, we definitely had to order that! They have so many different pizzas and the price ranges from $24 to $37. We were seriously spoit for choices. There were 5 of us and the staff told us to get 3 pizzas first, should be suffice. We ordered friend potatoes with rosemary and chickpeas, and also mussels for our sides. The potatoes tasted really good but the mussels were quite small. We loved the sauce that came with it though.

Complimentary crackers were served to us in a brown paper bag before our dishes were served. Nice gesture!

Funghi Misti, Fontina, Taleggio, Thyme ($30)
Generous fillings of a variety of mushrooms with herbs. Lovely!

Bacon, salami, fennel sausage, pancetta, tomato & mozzarella Pizza. Definitely a hot favourite for carnivores! A galore of meat! ($37)

Pizza alla benno: Speck, pineapple, jalapeño, mozzarella & tomato, really nice as well. ($35)

All the pizzas tasted so superb! I would definitely come again with other friends or family members to try out the other types of pizza here! Moreover, it was affordable. Each of us paid only $32 for the great meal.

Little Durian Stall at Pasir Ris Smile Sep 26, 2013

Categories : Malaysian

This is a small durian stall at Pasir Ris neigbourhood area. In fact, I didn't really think much of it and having stayed near this area for near 6 years, this was the first time hubby and I tried the durian here! The shopfront doesn't have a proper signboard. It was under the signboard name of the barber shop next door "Ten Dollar.Com". However, after I had read famous blogger, Dr Leslie Tay's (http://ieatishootipost.sg/2012/07/kong-lee-hup-kee-trading-tale-of-durian.html) new food guide, I the realized that this was actually a hidden gem!

It was the durian season and hubby had a strong craving for durian. Thus, he decided to buy "Mao Shan Wang" from this durian stall. The uncle was very friendly and he asked us whether we wanted him to open the durian and packed the fruits in the styrofoam box. We paid $35 for the durian and it was charged according to weight. Thus, it was different from what Dr Leslie had reviewed last year. In his blog, he said that it was charged around $30 per styrofoam box.

Supper at Geylang Smile Sep 25, 2013

Categories : Coffeeshop

It had been quite a while since we patronized this Yong He Dao Jiang You Tiao Da Wang. I remember it used to create hype here but nowadays, as we went more globalized, we can find more similar items being sold here in all parts of Singapore.

They now introduced more varieties of dim sum into their menu.

You Tiao used to be much bigger size, I think. Now, it seemed quite normal, like those that I can buy from the neighbourhood food court/ market. Nevertheless, it tasted good when dipped in the soya milk.

Soya pudding was smooth. Not bad.

Intestine mee sua instead of oyster mee sua is being sold here. This was quite good and you just need a spoon to eat this.

Pork Floss with Egg Cripsy Puff. Quite nice.. I used to like it better.

Nice Latte Art Smile Sep 25, 2013
Categories : Café

I had heard so much about this place from friends and also seen many of my instagram friends posted photos of numerous Latte Art from Chock Full of Beans. After a light dinner at Changi Food Centre, we decided to come over to this cafe to chill on a Friday evening. The indoor seats were almost full. We didn't really want to sit on the high stools so we decided to take the outside seats. It was also very dim outside and only after quite a while, then I realized that the table was full of ants! Eeeek!

Hubby ordered the Hazelnut Latte.

I ordered the Rose Latte ($5.50). Latte Art was in the form of a bear. A caramelised biscuit was also served at the side. The latte was decent but I think most people come here for the Latte Art.

Maybe next time when I visit them, I can request for a 3D Latte Art? I had seen it on their facebook and friend's instagram too!
