Worst Fruit Juice Ever! Cry Nov 27, 2013
Categories : Juices

This fruit juice stall is located at the 2nd floor of Far East Plaza, near to where a few of the mobile phone shops are.

The fruit stall had a open kitchen concept which allows you to see what is happening from in front of the counter, and this is what I saw:

I ordered a cup of Honey Drew juice from the only staff in the stall and watched as he cut up a SINGLE slice of Honey Drew, and blend it together with a full cup of water & some ice. It's not even a juicer, it's an ice blender!

The slice of Honey Drew wasnt even big, it's the same as what they are selling for $0.80 in the stall. The cup of Honey Drew "juice" caused me $2, so am I paying $1.20 for a cup of water?

So this is my cup of Honey Drew "juice", which tasted exactly like what it is. A cup of water with bits of blended Honey Drew.

Never ever going to buy anything from this stall again and I would highly recommend everyone else not to as well.

Noodle Soup Cry Jun 12, 2013
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

Was meeting my friend and we decided to visit Xin Wang for lunch. Not the best decision we made because the food was not of quality that day.

For Myself, I order Noodles soup and my friend ordered dry noodles.

The soup was bland and the noodles was really tasteless and soft.. Not chewy at all. To their credit, the luncheon meat was nice and crispy at the edges.

I knew it was going to be similar to instant noodles but I had expected it to be more flavorful.

I also ordered a flask of Watermelon ice blended. Watermelon ice blended is sweet and taste fresh.

Overall, the main course was a great disappointment so I would probably not be visiting again.

Taiwanese Food OK Dec 24, 2013
Categories : Taiwanese | Chinese | Restaurant

5 Little Bears is located conveniently at Far East Plaza, and serves popular Taiwanese food like Oyster Mee Sua, Braised Pork Belly Rice & Salted Crispy Chicken.

The inside of the restaurant is free seating style where you have to order your food at the counter, and they will call your number to pick it up when the food is ready.

For my meal today, I ordered a portion of the Salted Crispy Chicken & a bowl of Oyster Mee Sua.

For the Salted Crispy Chicken, I felt that it was too dry and very hard. I was quite disappointed with this dish as all I could taste is the flour and hardly any chicken.

The Oyster Mee Sua however was not bad. It's flavourful and silky smooth, easy enough to eat with just a spoon.

Even though we visited the restaurant during lunch time, there was plenty of seats and not much of a crowd. Great place to get a quick meal.

Recommended Dish(es):  Oyster Mee Sua

Expensive Seafood OK Nov 26, 2013
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Zi Char

Nested along Sembawang Road, near Nee Soon, The Famous Kitchen is a Singapore style Chinese restaurant with live seafood.

The restaurant have both inside and outside seatings. We chose to have the outside seating as the weather was great with the sky still bright in the early evening.

The place was rather empty as we were there at about 5.30pm, not quite your usual dinner time yet.

We ordered a plate of Salted Egg Pork Ribs ($12) and was surprised to see that it's rather different from the ones we normally see in Singapore. Usually the salted egg yolk is made into a sauce, but here at The Famous Kitchen, it's more like a topping of minced Salted Egg.

I do taste salted egg yolk flavour being infused into the pork ribs though, so I guess it's probably marinated before being fried as well. Quite nice & something different.

Garlic Stir Fry Kai Lan ($12)
The Garlic Stir Fry Kai Lan here is quite fresh & crispy, lightly flavoured with chunks of garlic. A great palate cleanser.

We also ordered Singapore iconic dish - Chili Crab at $58 for 850grams. Rather expensive in my opinion.

The Chili Crab is great, but not exceptional. The sauce leans towards the spicier type and goes great with the small fried man tous ($3 for 6). Good thing is that the crab is very fresh & juicy.

The service here is okay, there wasnt much customers around when I was there so they were pretty quick. But you can tell that the staffs here are trained to sell when they recommend you dishes and drinks, trying to get you to order more.

Most of the seafood here are marked as seasonal prices, so you should probably find out more from the staff before ordering.

Chicken thigh with Rice OK Oct 24, 2013
Categories : Food Court | BBQ

I was at the Food Republic at Wisma Atria and this stall quickly caught my eyes due their huge grilling rack of Chicken Wings.

I decided to order their set of Chicken thigh with rice instead of Chicken Wings with Rice as this set is slightly cheaper and I thought the meat from Chicken Thigh would be more tender and juicier.

However I regretted my decision when I opened up my rice box.

The meat is tender and nice, but I would rather they not cut up the meat. I would prefer to have my Chicken Thigh in whole so it will be juicer and I can enjoy tearing it up with my teeth.

The portion of the Chicken looks quite small as well.. as the meat were already cut into pieces, I cant tell how big it is originally.

Overall the meat is nice, and the rice is fragrant too, but I would order the Chicken Wings set the next time I visit this stall.
