Food hunt madness Smile Oct 06, 2013

Categories : German | Bars/Lounges

Ordered the German sausage madness and the pretzel.

Pretzel is a little hard and it is quite dry. At 3.00 a piece it is quite a huge portion for 1.

The German sausage platter is filled with items boosting a robust flavoured meal. Super yummy and worth to order for sharing. At 17.90 is it pretty worth the order and perfect to be washed down with beer!

Looking for a place to chill out after work this place is totally somewhere to check out!

A Fiery Meal Smile Feb 25, 2014

Mala Xiang Guo is one of the lastest food trend in town and it is little wonder to find one popping up near my office. A couple of my colleagues raved about this spicy dish and urge me to try it out, with a little reminder that I should go for the lessy spicy option when asked.

Located in Anchorpoint's Koufu, you will be presented by a selection of meat, veggie and mushrooms. Price of the meal is decided by weight of the items that you have selected.
Menu

Menu

SGD 1/ 100g of Vegatables
SGD 2/ 100g of Mushrooms
SGD 2.80/ 100g of Vegatables
SGD 3.80/ 100g of Seafood

I wasnt feeling too hungry so I had a mix of mushroom and vegetables which cost me SGD 4.80. I choose to have it less spicy and I am sure glad I did!
My choice pickings!

My choice pickings!

It was comfortably spicy where you dont have keep chugging cups of water down to squench the fire on your tongue. It is fragrant and the peanuts and sesame sees added to the make definitely made it smell better.

One of the tricks to having a cheaper bowl of food is to choose items which are much more light weight, e.g. Mushrooms or Kangkong which are pretty light items.

VERDICT
Definitely worth a trip down to try out this stall, especially if you are a spice lover. I like that idea of being able to choose my ingredients, which allows me to pile my bowl up with a whole lot of dietary fibre.

I have been to this stall several times and I really love their cheng teng which is packed with ingredients. Their prices are definitely reasonable and they don't scrimp on their ingredients.

They can be overzealous with their sugar syrup, so if you are looking for a slight healthier alternative, you can tell the auntie to put less sugar and she will gladly comply smile

Great service, great taste and great variety. What's not to like?
(I only wonder if 20 years down the road, can we still find hawkers like them, since it is such a dying trade)

Midnight Delights Smile Feb 16, 2014

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim Sum

If you are looking for a good place to enjoy supoer, Swee Choon is one of the best spots to go to. Dont be surprise to see long queues waiting for seats at 1am in the morning, cause they are really popular for their selection of dim sum.
My recent craving brought me in to feast on my all time favourite:
Dan Dan Mian

Dan Dan Mian

I like how the noodles here are always springy and never too starchy as if it were overcooked. Big portions which efinitely able to fill you up, I had to share this with Mr Heng, if not I would be too stuffed!
Spicy Beanpaste Chicken

Spicy Beanpaste Chicken

The other item which I like to order have to be the Spicy Bean Paste Chicken ( If I never remember the name wrongly) it is served cold, but it spicy savoury chilli oil sauce which it comes in is super shiok for those to love spicy food. I sometime dump the sauce into my dan dan mian to make it more spicy.
Century Egg Tofu

Century Egg Tofu

I also like the century egg tofu which is served with a little sweet sauce and chunks of century egg. I wish there could be a little more century egg though. Definitely not enough to satisfy my cravings.
There are loads of really good selections to go for in swee choon and you can just check out the other tables around you to see what they are ordering!
Have fun indulging in swee choon!

Looking for a good plate got hor fun? Look no further than Changi Village Hawker Centre's Wing Kee Chicken Chop Hor Fun. Now this stall have a rival right opposite it called "Amigo" and I used to be a fan of the stall till the standards started dropping a little.
The 2 best sellers which you will often hear people ordering is the Ipoh hor fun and Chicken Chop Hor Fun.
Chicken Chop Hor Fun

Chicken Chop Hor Fun

My choice is the chicken chop hor fun and I am sure if you are a guy, you can easily slurp up 2 plates of it. The hor fun is so smooth and soft you hardly feel the need to bite at all. The crispy chicken which is placed atop the hor fun is such a contrast in the texture, when you hear the crunch as you bite down.

If you are a chilli fan, go for it! It is a little sweet despite its spiciness.
Have fun enjoying your plate of horfun as much as I did with mine!
