My all time favourite Mee Sua Smile Oct 30, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop | Chinese Soup

“Soupy Goodness” is the term for this simple bowl of rice Vermicelli at Kembangan

Unlike usually conventional Mee Sua which is served with chicken stock with an egg in it. It is herbal based and comes with either pig organs or pork slices depending on your preference.

It’s not centrally located, but you wouldn’t be able to miss it as you are driving along Changi Road cause their business is sooo good they took up 4 shop spaces!

Delicious Thai Food in Kovan Smile Oct 30, 2013

Tom Yam Clear Base

Tom Yam Clear Base

Tom Yam Thick Base

Tom Yam Thick Base

One of my favourite dishes, the Tom Yam thick base soup is a must order at this place! Less spicy than the clear base, but super rich in flavour!
Pandan Chicken

Pandan Chicken

The fragant pandan chicken is one of the popular items here in Nakhon. In set of four, I had friends who ordered servings after servings cause one was just not enough. It might look big, but once the pandan leaves are unwrapped, 3 bites is all you need to polish one of it off!
Thai Papaya Salad

Thai Papaya Salad

The papaya salad here was so so only, we found it a tad too spicy with their generous dousing of chilli padi into the mix.
Olive Fried Rice

Olive Fried Rice

I stumbled upon this dish when I was looking for something new to try and I never regretted it. Moist, fragrant and sprinkled with ingredients, I will unknowingly finish the entire plate in a blink of an eye!

***

This location is a little hard to find as it is tucked away from the busy crowded portion of Kovan Central. But the long snaking queues daily will definitely catch your eye if you drive past the area.

This entire meal came up to $24 for 3 pax and we thought that this is way more worth it than to go to an overprice cafe to pay for atmosphere and lousy food.

Spending per head: Approximately $8(Dinner)

CHEESY MAYO FRIES

CHEESY MAYO FRIES

Nacho cheese like which is generously doused over thick cut fries! Shiok-a-nathan! Definitely a great starter to keep you wanting for more
TAIWAN MEE SUA

TAIWAN MEE SUA

We ordered the chicken and mushroom version of the popular oyster mee sua and it is still yummy nonetheless! Chunkier with additional ingredients though!
TAIWANESE COLD NOODLES

TAIWANESE COLD NOODLES

I never really like my food cold unless it is sushi/sashimi/salads or desserts? But this dish is definitely on the top of must-eats if you visit this cafe! Noodles drenched in peanut sauce and sprinkled with peanut bits and vegetable strips!
OLIVE LEAF FRIED RICE

OLIVE LEAF FRIED RICE

We were puzzled by “Olive Leaf” cause it was definitely my first time hearing it. But it is just Olive fried rice which you can definitely get better ones else where e.g. Nahkon Kitchen.

So if you are looking for a interesting Taiwan cafe with mid-range prices to hangout with your friend, this is definitely one place you would want to try out! It is also a plus plus for you if you are a Jay Chou Fan, cause his music is always playing on the background!

Prawn & Avocado Salad

Prawn & Avocado Salad

It was ordinary in taste but generous in portions! We were even saying that it should be Prawn & Corn salad for the amount of corn which was thrown in!
Mentaiko Mayo Gyoza

Mentaiko Mayo Gyoza

I love love love this dish out of everything else in the restaurant! The fillings were flavoursome and juicy and the meat was minced so well that it just breaks apart the moment bite into it!
Stamina Ramen

Stamina Ramen

For garlic lovers (like me!), you can enjoy the thick, full flavoured pork bone soup of the Stamina ramen which comes with generous serving of vegetables and cha shu that literally melt in your mouth. 3 thumbs up!
Signature Miso Ramen

Signature Miso Ramen

Om Nom nom.. Pretty good broth but stamina ramen is the definite winner in my mind!
Grilled Chashu in Sauce

Grilled Chashu in Sauce

Definitely not a recommended item for me. The Cha Shu was dry and doesn’t really taste fantastic. Just a piece of pork to me honestly. Place your money else where for this one.

Chicken goodness! Smile Oct 27, 2013

Categories : Coffeeshop | Chicken Rice

Sunday means a good day to travel for food!

Instead of just settling lunch anywhere, we decided to brave the long queues at bishan's Ming Kee Chicken Rice to spoil our tastebuds.

Soft moist rice and succulent thick generous chunks of chicken, SGD 3.50 for a plate is a damn good price for it.
The feast

The feast

I always try to resist taking on more rice than I should but Ming Kee's rice is so well buttered, fragrant and moist, I always end up grabbing one more bowl of rice for sharing.

So if u are looking for a really good plate of chicken rice, you know where to go now!
